Title: The Tale of Orpheus as Told From Garet

Author: Arda Wilson

Orpheus was one of the few mortals who could play a musical instrument very well. Orpheus did meet a lady by the name of Eurydice, and it did happen that she was killed by a serpent's poison. Orpheus, deeply saddened, decided to journey to the deep underworld to recover his lost love. He was able to soothe the lords and ladies of the underworld with his songs, and successfully brought them to his will. They agreed that Eurydice should be set free, under one condition. Orpheus could not look back at his lover all the way back to the overworld.

Orpheus agreed, and started up to the overworld. He was dying to see if his lover was behind him but he did not look. Upon ariving to the overworld, Orpheus was quick to look but, but alas, he was too quick for Eurydice had not yet passed from the cave of the underworld. The last words did he hear from his love was "Farewell". He tried to return to the underworld but he was barred from entering.

So ends the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice.
