Reagent Pathologies
Title: Reagent Pathologies
Author: Jezebel of Britain
While it is true that
reagents hold the
power to heal the sick
and vanquish your
foes, they are also
naturally occuring
elements capable of
transferring various
maladies to those who
overhandle them and
fail to use proper
precautions in storage.
Below I have listed several of the more common maladies with potential cures, though much remains to learn about the natural qualities of reagents and their effect on humans.
Black Fever
Cause: Black Pearl
Symptoms: Stained
fingers and knots in
the neck and groin; if
untreated results in
death.
Cure: Rest and fluids,
leeching. DO NOT
USE MAGIC TO CURE
THIS FEVER! Black Pearl, as you know, is the most potent of the common reagents and reacts violently in the blood if any magic is cast on the patient.
Blood Fungus
Cause: Bloodmoss
Symptoms: Fingers
turn red; mostly
harmless
Cure: Wash hands
daily in strong spirits.
Orc's Revenge
Cause: Overingestion
of Ginseng
Symptoms: loose
bowels
Cure: Keep patient
hydrated. The
symptoms should pass
in a few days.
Nightshade Poisoning
Cause: Nightshade
ingestion
Symptoms:
Disorientation, nausea,
internal bleeding
Cure: DO NOT INDUCE
VOMITING. Cast Cure
spells once every full
hours. Feed patient
light foodstuffs.
Travelers Despise
Cause: Frequent gate
travel
Symptoms: Dementia,
vertigo
Cure: No known cure.
Aye?
This is all the
information I have for
now, and this
information may not
be entirely correct.
Much of it was
gleaned from my
uncle, who is prone to
drink but is otherwise
an excellent
apothecary.
Thank you and feel free to tell me your comments.
