Lord Niltsiar sat, quietly, listening to Elder Tanthazarus tell of his meeting with the Jabbress, the Proposition, and his plan to capture her. She would be held for ransom. The prize: one of the sacred Dragon Tomes.

Niltsiar smiled proudly. Tanth's quick thinking had presented an opportunity for the Brethren to strike the hardest blow ever to the Drow. But his smile soon faded. "The Drow will not forget this. You will be in great danger."

Tanthazarus, in his rush to concoct the perfect scheme, had not thought of this. While he were a filthy human in the eyes of a Drow, his words commanded respect, and he could be trusted by them during negotiations. After this, there would be no further talks. No trust. Only all-out war. And his head would be the centerpiece.

"We must find a way to protect you. To make them think that you were on their side all along, even after this is over." Niltsiar's voice began to shake slightly.

"Aye..." Tanth began. "We can play further down this path."

Niltsiar was unable to hide his curiosity. He leaned forward in anticipation.

"Suppose," he continued, "that I were to be discovered in my attempt to frame ye, m'lord? Then I would be cast off as the Betrayor, and, whilst it should pain me greatly to have my good name tarnished, it shall lead the Drow to think it a plan gone awry."

Again, Niltsiar smiled.

"I might even win more of their trust in doing so. It would open a door we've never had opened for us before."

They sat in approving silence, both picturing the events to come in their mind's eyes. It was a well-crafted plan. The Brethren of Light would rise to a newfound level of respect and Honor.
