A Promise to be Kept - Book Two
Title: A Promise to be Kept - Book Two
Author: Aewin the Elf
It was the two
warriors approached
the starboard side, did
Justice seize an
opportunity, he
dropped his blade and
charged. The action so
stunned Raven that
Justice caught him
off balance and
knocked him over the
edge of the ship. With
a loud splash, the
Raven sunk like his
cold stone heart.
Justice surveyed the battle scene, the Ravens crew was almost slain to a man, but his side had taken a few casualties and the crew of the Lion's Key had lost many. The deck was awash in the blood of many. Where as on a battlefield the earth would absorb this life blood, the deck of a ship just let it flow over the sides.
Theron quickly assessed the condition of the Lion's Key and of the black vessel Raven. "All hands abandon ship and board the Raven! We are taking on too much water for the crew to handle, she's going down!" Quickly the crew rounded up the passengers and made their way to the Raven.
Gillian watched the Lion's Key vanish beneath the waters. Tears flowing down his face. Father Talos was dead, all their building supplies are gone, and many men had died, all due to the dark heart of the one known as the Raven. The Firstmate, now captain, announced that they had limited stores on the Raven, meaning they would need to make landfall soon. The charts were all destroyed during the battle so its whatever land was sighted first would be the new home.
Gillian saw the leader of the warriors, he was sitting on a coil of rope, cleaning blood off his armor. Gillian approached, "Pardon me, I need, nay must, know how did Father Talos die?"
Justice looked into the eyes of this lad and somberly said "Bravely."
Gillian nodded. "So what now warrior, what happens when we reach the unknown land? What happens to us, the craftsmen, the crew?"
Justice replied, "There is a promise to be kept."
Gillian looked perplexed, "A promise?"
The warrior looked at the healer and spoke with complete sincerity, "Father Talos asked me to look after you, your fellow healers, and these craftsmen. I shall do so, I shall protect thee and the innocent for as long as I draw breath, I and my compatriots shall be thy gaurdians.
"LAND HO!!!" Came the cry with the rising sun. An island due north. Theron steered the ship along the rocky coast, looking for someplace to land, when he rounded a point he could not beleive his eyes, a dock awaited them. Carefully as he could he brought the black vessel along side the wooden peir. "Welcome home," He cried out.
From here the story continues, but that is a tale of another time. Let it be said that these healers and heros settled here on the island of Buccaneers Den, while an island of danger they have one thing in common, a promise to be kept.
