May the Virtues condemn
the actions of the
followers of Nosfentor,
for I will surely give
them no in their actions! If this
is what reporting both
sides gets me, perhaps I
should reconsider giving
evil any voice in the
media. Condemn them all,
rally the readers to
action, and let the gods
sort it out in the end.
But no, if my time on
Earth taught me anything,
it's that the media must
be balanced... Allowing it
to become a mouthpiece
for any singular viewpoint
is stagnation. Pandering to
the lowest denominator
serves only to dull the
minds of the reader, or
worse yet give in to
their ignorance.
At least I have the Nameless Rune Library to live in for the moment. I cannot allow this tragedy to shake my resolve and commitment to this shard.
November 23rd
I have contacted the
families of Llewellyn,
Jennettia and June.
Funeral arrangements have
been made, and I plan on
attending each service.
Their deaths will not go
unnoticed, or
unremembered. The Triad
may have taken their
lives, but they did not
break their will. The
spirit of their sacrifice
will aid the coming battle
to rid the realm of
Nosfentor's taint.
December 5th
The rubble has been
cleared and plans are
being drawn up to rebuild
the northwest corner of
the library. Dot says
she can have temporary
wooden walls erected
within a week that should
shelter the library from
the elements. I have
found no evidence of the
restricted book case thus
far, and I believe it to
have been
completely...destroyed.
This bodes well for the
future, as that bastard
Harry Plotter didn't get
his grubby mitts on the
book. May he rot in the
Abyss for his depraved
attack on the literate
public.
December 16th
I have consulted with
Lord DaKaren about the
book, and he assures me
that it is in a safe
place. In fact all the
books lost' in the
explosion are quite intact
and easily retrievable.
He seems unwilling to
perform that act,
however, and I cannot
blame his motives.
Should the Triad get
their hands on the tome
they search for, the hope
of Nosfentor's banishment
could be dashed.
December 17th
Dot and her crew have
finished the wooden patch
job to the library.
While it is exceptionally
crafted, the wooden walls
look garish next to the
Magincian marble. Dot
agreed with the
sentiment, and reminded
me it is only temporary.
I should have the plans
to her for the rebuilding
within the next month or
so. I should contact the
architect about adding a
security door the alcove
in my office that houses
the restricted section.
January 12th
I believe I am being
followed, though I am not
sure. I have seen a few
suspicious tracks around
the library's windows, and
behind several of the
nearby trees. I hope I am
overreacting and it is
just local children playing
games...
January 27th
I have met with the
architect several times,
and the final plans are
being drawn up and bound
for Dot as I write this.
Within a week or two,
construction on the can
commence. It will be nice
to have my own home
back, as this cot is
causing my back to ache.
February 4th
I received the
architectural plans in the
post today. It is bound in
a burgundy book with gold
gilt lettering. A tad
ostentatious for mere
building plans. Come to
think of it, the New
Haven scribe who is
producing this particular
color of book must be
doing a brisk business.
Tomorrow I deliver the
plans to Dot, I hope her
crew work swiftly...
February 5th
Dot has the plans in
hand, and says she will
have a crew ready to
begin in a few days. She
just needs to contact
the quarry where the
marble is cut. I saw a
figure watching us from
behind a tree at Dot's
shop, the Etheral
Emporium II. She thinks
she saw something move
as well... However, it
could easily have been a
hind or other woodland
creature...
February 9th
I have received word
from Dot that the
quarry that produces the
Magincian marble is well
behind schedule. The isle's
destruction has caused a
labor shortage, and I
bought the last shipment
they produced to
refurbish the rune library.
Undaunted, Dot suggested that I sweet-talk Hickory into lending his mining skill to the quarry to speed delivery. The former pirate is a longtime O.E.A. member and grandmaster materials gatherer. She suggested I look for him at DaKaren's new tower, or in his old Feluccan house. I'll look him up tomorrow...
February 10th
It is early morning and I
am eager to find Hickory. I have been hearing odd
noises from outside the
rune library all night. I
hope it was just the
Yew Militia performing
night exercises or some
unabashedly exhibitionistic
animals...
