Dear Madame,
I am writing to you anonymously. The reasons for this will become clear to you in the near future. For now, all that you need to know is that I am an individual associated with an organization beyond the borders and laws of individual kingdoms and governments. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly what it is that we do. We fight, we keep peace, we cause war, we sell, we buy, we barter, we kill, and often times we too are slain. This letter will seem very cryptic to you, madame Templar. This is my intention.
Do not look for meaning where there is none. Do not search for something that is not hidden. I will divulge to you now, the purpose of this letter.
This letter is a message to you. A beacon to tell of our coming. We are not foes, we are not allies. We are simply we. Our presence has been felt in this land for quite sometime, be it in major ways or minor ways. Read these words and look for us. You are a noble person. You are not perfect. You are not clean. You are not pure. You have your secrets, as do all people. But, you are a person who is to be respected because of the respect that you give. Many below you in your organization are the same, but several are individuals that do not deserve respect. Many even above you do not deserve your respect, yet, you give it. Your very leader, your chancellor, he is wise, but does little to command respect. In fact, it may be said while being completely honest, that a good number of the leaders and military personnel of Britannia do not deserve respect. This is one of the many reasons that we have decided to refocus our attention toward Britannia once again. Additional reasons for our decision include the ignorance that the High Council of Britannia has continuously displayed for two consecutive years, the abandonment of townships, the loss of morale, and the continued inability to win a war. This is not a declaration of hostility. These are simply things that have caused us to turn our eye from the east. But, if the council is the devil we know, the one we don't know is much worse. An individual who has shown a lack of respect recently, and who is completely new to our eyes, has piqued our interests. A man who sails to a long ruined city, and pretends to be of some great importance. Take our charity he says, as if those to whom it was offered, even needed it. A simple 'sorry' does not make up for a knife in the back, said a wise man. Priests are worse than pirates, said another. Madame Templar, it should be clear to you, who we speak of. A lunatic who is more polite, is still a lunatic. Lady, do not shrug this letter off. More than anything, this is to serve you as a wake up call. Do not allow injustices to continue where virtue is preached. Do not allow corruption to fester. This letter is a sign of respect to you. Prepare yourself, prepare your knights, and prepare your township. Your allegiance would be greatly valued when the time arrives.
TWELVE DAYS.
?
TWO BY TWO.
