Title: Prophecy
Author: Lothian
I grow weak with the
centuries since Lord
Lithos walked free. My
life may have been
prolonged by the Mountain
King, but it is not
eternal. The tasks I have
been given do not allow
me to simply become a
lich and wait the long
years. I know the others
I have raised to that
fate walk and dream and
plot for Lithos’s return.
They cannot know I am
responsible, these frail
human remains, aged
beyond recognition. They
will see the doubt in my
eyes. They will see the
weakness of Lithos that
only his necromancer
knows.
I go to sleep now, barely breathing, waiting until enough of Lithos is free to return here and set things in motion. I have already dreamed of my replacement, not some dream directed by Lithos’s anger, but a true dream of prophecy.
He will come from a city touched by both virtue and vice, but belonging to neither. It will be the city of the evening, the Vesper star. He will share a letter and a nature with this city. The Athame of Lithos which I will hold may pass to him, helping guide him toward the Mountain King, though it alone will not control him. Mortal born and mortal remaining, he will be free to choose his path. Will he wake the earth and dead to the aid of Lithos or will he forge the lock that binds the Titan?
I hope I never walk this world again.
