Title: Notes...

Author: Walter Drake

I have been chained in this room for a week now. It is horrible. So small, so dark. I hate this dungeon. Any zeal I had for exploration is gone, ash in my mouth. I have been betrayed. For meager scraps of food, I have figured out how to make this cursed object work. How could I have trusted Lord Casca? He is clearly a madman. The more time I spend with him, the more of him I see. He is sometimes the kind jailer, providing extra food and suggesting I just help him and all will work out. Other times, he is cruel and whips anyone he can see. Which is the real Casca?

I am dying. This last act of mine will be my undoing. They beat me for this. I found a weakness in the device, a flaw put in by one of the builders. By placing several pieces of blackrock near the base and saying the words of power 'Vas An Por' while a group of people chant the mantra of honest, this deceitful device will fall to dust.
