Title: The Serpent's Tongue Archives, Vol II

Author: Desdemona

Kazola's is haunted! I, Desdemona, had stopped for a small drink this morning... Upon paying a bleary-eyed Samson, I took a sip of the watered-down ale as I strode towards the large communal table... Upon lowing the tankard, a disembodied spirit appeared in the middle of the tavern!

Not being overly fond of ghosts, I kept my distance.. I calmly told the spirit it might find resurrection at the Healers in Yew. That's when it turned around.

The tankard clattered to the floor as I stood agape at the spirit before me... Its visage was one of torment and anguish... and sadness? As it began to approach me, I noticed what it carried... a dimly glowing black staff!

Knowing this was no common spirit, I turned to the door and bolted outside. Hoping the morning sun would have some warding properties. It didn't.

The spirit followed me past the tree right outside as I ran around the fountain. There the spirit stopped and hovered, seemingly staring into the bubbling waters. Seconds later it vanished as though it had never existed.

To much ale you ask? Nay.. This was real.. I guess the rumors I've heard are true.. Something has chosen to haunt Kazola's... But why?

To the great sadness of the mayor, it had been discovered that the spirit haunting Kazola's is none other then her adoptive father and guild master. DaKaren left on a trip to the Lost Lands to investigate the rapidly growing cotton that was reported.

Lord Elwynn theorizes that the spirit may be trying to communicate with the living, if it is even an actual spirit and not a psychic projection.

The black staff the ghost wields add only confusion to this mystery. It is widely known that the spirits of the dearly departed cannot interact with our physical world, however, some spirits may be powerful enough to manifest illusionary objects.

If anyone can help to solve this mystery, they are encouraged to let their voice be heard! Help to ease the mourning of the mayor, and put DaKaren's spirit at ease.

Krista’s Ranger Station is currently being taken care of by the druid Elwynn. The pressures of running the Station are great, and Krista does not know when or if she will return to running the Station on a day to day basis. Krista remains as an advisor to Elwynn, even though he seems not to need it.

Krista states, “Elwynn is doing a fine job with the Ranger Station. I am very lucky to have such a talented caretaker for my place.” Many folks have expressed concern about Krista’s health or even her possible departure from these lands, but Krista assures this reporter that she is suffering from nothing but a lack of time and merely wishes to concentrate on other projects for a time.

Unusual wisp activity has been reported in Arcodia recently. The Etheral Emporium was made home to a very curious wisp for several days. Mayor Warner theorized that the wisp may have some connection to the spirit of DaKaren.

A feared Dark Wisp followed the city's clerk, Morgain, from the town hall to the Emporium where it to an unnatural interest in the other wisp. A few days later both wisps vanished.

Oddly enough ab OEA member named Dobbo, one of Dot's guildmates, has reported seeing a marked increase in wisp activity near the OEA tower and DaKaren's home near the Hedgemaze.

Congratulations are due to two fine Arcodia citizens, Lola and Drizzt Do’Urden. These two relocated to Arcodia back in December and love blossomed in our forests, finally culminating in their wedding on September the 4th. They were wed in by the Observatory in Moonglow, witnessed by many friends from both Arcodia and around the globe. Let’s all wish them much happiness in their lives together!

Leshyani Rianne’s son Rain, has recently moved into the area. Young Rain is nine years of age and has recently been reunited with his mother. This precocious youth has been meeting many of the area citizens. Please join us in welcoming him to our fine town.

Another new citizen is the gremlin Reshlin. Reshlin was curious enough about “gwaps”, that we call humans, that he came down from his home in the Yew trees to visit with us. Like the local orcs, Reshlin speaks enough Brittanian to be understood fairly well. Just know that “yapnap” means he is in agreement, and you’ll do well.

Kazola’s Treetop Keg and Winery hosted a fine wedding reception for Codhane and Zelexis tonight. Codhane is a businessman from the Britain area and Zelexis is the guildmistress for the Forest Guardians of Brittainia. We citizens can take pride in their choice of locale, as Zelexis would surely know where the loveliest spot in all the forests was.

Unfortunately, the end of the reception took a turn for the worse. Some of the area rogues assaulted party guests and even stole the prize for the fine scavenger hunt that was held. Amongst the people that interfered are Emo, Chewbacca of the YRA and various members of M-N, the mystic nomads. All these villains are still at large, remember to approach them with caution.

Regardless of the turn for the worse, we wish the couple the best of luck and a fine lives together.

Once again, in the tradition of the druids, Krista’s Ranger Station will be holding a nature festival to celebrate Mabon. This festival celebrates the late autumn harvest and fortifies us for the upcoming winter. The Station and participants will be blessed traditionally by Elwynn, the senior druid in the Arcodia area. There will be a scavenger hunt and a feast as well.

The festival will begin at 8pm CST on September 21st and last until midnight or whenever the last person wanders off into our fair woodlands. Bring yourself and an appetite for this one, these festivals are always a grand party!

Word has reached this reporter's ears that DaKaren's manor near the Hedgemaze was rge victim of arson late last night.

The fire was discovered early by O.E.A. member Sparrowhawk who rescued important papers and artifacts before the house was consumed.

Sparrowhawk reports that he thought he saw lights moving amongst the trees during the blaze.

Who would want to burn the manor is a mystery. Mayor Warner was unavailable for comment.
