Ode to The Mother

Once, you rose so high among us

Gracing the sky with comely fingers

To tickle the clouds and delight the stars

The moon rose around you - a halo

The sun broke through you in shafts of light

Blinding me from all things

But the glory and wonder of you

With wisdom far beyond mortal comprehension

A timeless beauty none can compete

So much you have seen as your children

Pass through the seasons and grow

Taking with them the best aspects of your majesty

Sheltering pauper to prince, the same

Providing boundless bounty unselfishly

Black'd branches now, brittle and worn

Barren as the winter fields, lying still

Shallow and sallow in the veiled light

We weep at your feet and beg you to stay

Our prayers surround you

Do you feel them? Can you hear us?

Mother, blessed Mother
