Title: The Salty Dog

Author: Olaf

We have suffered a loss again this month due to the fact not many visitors come to East Britain anymore. I have talked to my wife in trying to host some sort of promotional affair, and I have come up with starting a dart league up in hopes to attract more business.

Our promotion was a dismal failure, the town criers didn't advertise our event and I am afraid I threw away all the dart boards in disgust. I have ordered some board games from the provisioners in town in hopes to start an Intellectual's League.

"If you build it, they will come" doesn't seem to apply to everything. Once again, I have poured more money into improving my establishment, yet nobody comes.

I have asked my wife the other day if we can hire some ladies from Buccaneer's Den, to make the place more homely and inviting. I have stayed at the Inn to the west for the past five nights now. I have been growing flowering plants now in hopes to get her to forgive and forget my insensitive idea.

My wife rushed in today to tell me there was some man at the counter, wanting a drink. I thought she was joking again, but as I walked in sure enough a town guard was hunched over the counter looking gloomy. I tried not to look too excited, and offered him a drink and some food. he wanted one liquor, one wine, and one ale. Well, I could see he has some issues and served them up.

He told me that he worked hard to get a job at the castle, however was dissatisfied with how things were run there. He assumed the men and women that worked and served there were those with Honor and Valor, but instead found they were nothing but blind fools. He had a little too much, and I took him over to the Inn to sleep off the night.

Reports are in the Magincia is under attack by mages, and yet it seems their tavern is still open there. I have arranged for an old friend to meet the recently unemployed man that visited me this week, as he will need some sort of job if I am to stay in business.

My wife has asked I put some locks on the doors downstairs, as she heard some voices in our storeroom. I have brushed it off, as I know exactly who was down there and why, and I have a good feeling there won't be any problems again.
