Title: Inu Quest Log

Author: Xevei

So there I was, walking around unsure what to do that day. By chance I came across Sebastian's little house in the Castle courtyard.

I saw some books laying on his steps, intrigued, I gave them a closer look. One book proclaimed "Find Inu!" I decided to read what was contained inside. Turns out that Inu had been up to some mischief and was out causing some trouble.

The book suggested a starting point at Inu's home in the desert of Zento.

Sensing a long journey ahead of me, I quickly returned to the Britain Bank and organized my pack for a potentially long and troublesome trip. Little did I know! Traveling via moongate, I arrived at Zento and immediately set out to find Inu's house. After a brief search, I came upon her house. On the second floor, apparently forgotten was Inu's Diary. Reading the book revealed some clues, and why Inu was so angry. She was off to see Solomon to find out her fortune. I was stumped. Fortune tellers? Then I had a bright flash of inspiration! There were gypsy camps in Ilshenar that had fortune tellers. Off to Ilshenar I went, starting with Compassion Gate because it was the very first gate.

After a bit of searching, I found Solomon.

After a bit of small talk, I got down to the point, asking about Inu.

Solomon was more than happy to share what he knew... Which apparently wasn't much. I began to suspect he was holding something back, so I started asking about some specific things (Ie: why Inu was angry, and why Sebastian needed to find her, and what Inu was looking for) At this point, some other seekers arrived. I greeted them and after discussing, we agreed to join up and form a party. The notable names were: Lady Shalamar, Lady Morgana (Those two would end up sticking with me for the entire journey.) There were other fine folks who came and went for parts of the journey also. After some prodding, Solomon admitted that yes, they went on a hunt to a valley shaped like a serpent and got something. Inu then apparently left to do a painting in a pass somewhere. "Painting? Are you sure?!" I was thunderstruck that Inu would take time to do a painting.

After making my report to Sebastian, I consulted an old map-maker friend of mine asking if he knew of any passes. he indicated several, but the most likeliest one was probably the Pass of Karnaugh in Ilshenar also. Armed with this information, the party sallied forth and travelled to the pass. The trip was fraught with much danger, some very nasty and heinous monsters attacked us on way. Several of our party members fell valiantly fighting them off. After a period of time, we finally reached the vast old decaying fort in the middle of the Pass. I used my invisibility spell frequently to avoid detection of the denizens inside.

Wandering around for what seemed an age, we finally discovered a room with some canvas frames on easels. We thought we were close! There was nobody around. Then we noticed a chest lying next to a wall. Curiosity got better of us, we opened the chest... To find 3 mysterious objects inside. One of the party touched one of the objects and disappeared!

We were taken aback. We decidd we needed to be careful. I touched the seashell and was transported to a beautiful quiet beach. Eventually the others showed up at the beach.

There was a lonely pirate inhabiting the beach. We went up to him and introduced ourselves. Alas the poor pirate seemed to heartbroken to be much help to us. Apparently Inu was here and the pirate fell in love with her. After consoling the pirate and inquiring whether Inu came here for anything we discovered that yes, Inu had Seamus (the pirate's name) his sea skills to fish up a crystal sea serpent. He bemoaned about his dirty knife and wanted to know if we could help him clean it. We were willing to help a poor stressed pirate out after being victimized by Inu. Seamus indicated that Inu had left to visit an old barkeep friend. We winced at the thought of seeking a barkeep in the vast multitude of taverns across shards.

We put out the call to friends. "Find us Lance! He works at a tavern!" One of the party fellows suspected that there was more to this so we kept questioning Seamus and got a clue of Lance's whereabouts. Not a haven, and only reachable by sea. We had it! Some of the party members dreaded the idea of going to Felucca. I cheered them on, saying we would stay together and be strong to stand off whatever evil existed in Felucca.

Some jusicious use of recalls and moongates, we arrived at the tavern where Lance worked at. After introducing ourselves, we found Lance too distraught to even talk to us. Apparently whatever Inu did to him, it was very painful. We decided to withdraw and wait until Lance calmed down enough to talk to us. We made our reports to Sebastian and let him know about Lance. Sebastian was intrigued and decided to go have a talk with Lance to see if he could calm him down. After a brief rest for the party, Sebastian returned to inform us that Lance was still upset but would listen to us now. We set out once again, with more people in our party. Lance was indeed more willing to talk to us, but it was exceedingly difficult to get information out of him. After discussing some of the finer points of his trade, and what he used to do, we discovered that he has a pet bird that inu apparently stole and killed. Lance was much distraught over this. gently asking some more questions, we discovered the breed of the bird and her origins. Then someone in the party came upon the bird name and promptly disappeared after saying it.

We were looking at the spot she had disappeared in puzzlement. I decided to say the name and I was transpotred away too! Slowly one by one the others had the same thought and appeared in the cave with the rest of us. This was a strange cave indeed. Highly polished marble marked with runics and eerie sparkles abounded. There was a moongate on one side, and some suggested we should take it. After a discussion, we decided to explore the cave some more. Fortunate for us that we did! We discovered Peter standing alone in a dead end tunnel. After introducing ourselves and inquiring why he was in the cave... We discovered the he was a seeker of rare gems and that yes, indeed, Inu was was there and used his services in storing/brokering an object. We discover that he has a brother named Yancey that ran a Jeweler shop. Some of the party decided to leave and try to find Yancey. Most of us remained in the cave, questioning Peter to try and find out what Inu was after. after a while, word reached us that yancey had been found in Britain. I decided to pay him a visit after getting nowhere with Peter.

Progress with Yancey and Peter was extremely slow, but we eventually discovered that they used a banker as a way of storing items. Some of us thought "Another misdirection? Or is this another person we need to find?" After talking to the party, it was decided that I would set out alone to try to find the banker. Armed with some information carelessly left in a book by peter, I set out to visit every bank. After many tiring recalls and futile inquiries, I finally came across a banker in Cove that responded to the information I gleaned from the book! Alas, it was not to be that easy. The banker wanted some before she would open the account for me. Frustrated, I returned to the party at Peter/Yancey and informed them of my progress. After much intense questioning, we were slowly able to find out that their mother had recently passed away and interrned in a tomb. One of the party left to find the tomb located on an island city somewhere. We continued to question Peter and Yancey to try find more information. The person who sought the tomb came back shortly after all excited. She had found the information we needed! Hastily returning to the banker, we were able to provide the information they wanted.

Alas we were too late Inu had already been there before us and took the item first. Inquiring the banker with the information they had provided us, we were able to figure out where Inu might have been. Apparently Inu's residence was a "Daryl's Ranch". We started at eash other in Puzzlement. "A ranch?" a party member asked incredulously. Shrugging, I suggested we go visit ranches until we found Daryl.

The party split up once again, going off to far corners to search. After several failed attempts in Yew and Britain, we finally found the ranch near Skara Brae. There we met Daryl, an apparent simple and feeble-minded rancher. He did not respond to the usual lines of inquires. For a moment there we thought we were at a dead end. Then someone had the brilliant idea of asking about his job and what he usually did. After going through some mind-numbingly boring comments about fruits, vegetables and cows, Daryl mentioned that he grew something really big and that a stranger came by wanting it. Aha! A possible answer we thought. Asking about every vegetable/fruit we could think of, we finally discovered what it was. A radish. Daryl mumbled something about not liking how the stranger kept staring at his cat and that he was glad to help her leave quickly to a city moongate. After asking which city, we discovered that Inu went to Luna. The party members looked at each other and sighed. This was turning into a long journey indeed.

Wearily, we set off to Luna and we split up once again to ask various Luna Citizens on wheather if they had seen Inu. By stroke of luck, we quickly discovered that the stablemaster near the Luna Moongate had indeed seen Inu and was angry at her also. This seems to be an recurring theme, people being angry at Inu. Channa was extremely talkative after we found other things to talk about besides Inu. She is hapilly in love with Horace, and recently engaged. Apparently Inu created a love potion in exchange for Channa's service in taming a creature. Channa indicated Horace did something for Inu too, but that Horace was out of town for a while.

Leaving the party at Channa, I ran off to try find Horace. Luck was with me, I managed to find him rather quickly in Luna also. Unfortunately he seemed a little brain-addled from the love potion and was not talkative. At this point we decided it probably would be best to take a break and report our findings to Sebastian again. Sebastian was hapy with our progress and upon hearing about Horace, he seemed concerned. Love potions can severely mess with your mind, folks. Don't do it.

Sebastian suggested we take a break and wait until Horace recovered. I for one was glad for this break. Long trips on my horse, which was aptly named Xevei's Folly, makes for one very sore Xevei. A day later we reconvened the party after Sebastian let us know that Horace seemed to be recovering. We quickly made our way to Horace and started questioning him. We were in a hurry and got down to the point. We discovered what Inu needed from a herbalist like Horace, a rare mature pure ginseng. We also inquired about his recent engagement to Channa, and it turns out that he had commissioned a ring from Yancey and that Inu essentially paid for it.

We made a quick trip to see Yancey to see if we could get more information on the ring. After a few trips back and forth between Horace and Yancey to find the necessary information, we discovered what type gem it was and when Inu had paid for it. We hurried back to Channa and questioned her some more about the ring and Inu. Apparently Inu had left for Umbra to have some blood work done on the creature.

Umbra. Tis a very dark city, that place has has some interesting history, however we pushed on and went there. After looking around for a bit, we discovered Martha at the local Bloodletting building. Martha was... not cooperative. She had some anger issues, threatening to take several of us to Felucca. She demanded that we respect her profession and would not talk to us until we discovered her profession's true name. We were utterly confounded and stumped at this point. Someone suggested maybe Sebastian would help us at this point.

Another trip to Sebastian's house and some waiting later... We finally get Sebastian to agree to help us out yet once again. Returning to Martha, Sebastian found a clue, a wooden box previously unnoticed by us containing some brightly colored scrolls and single letters on them. After spending some time unravelling the scroll mystery, we discovered a clue and inquired Martha about it. To our amazement, Martha still persisted in not talking to us. Sebastian became quite angry with Martha and took her aside to give her a good scolding. Moments later, Martha returned, quite cowed, and we were able to proceed and find out that Inu had her extract some difficult rare blood out of the creature. Some more questioning later, we discover that Inu left to deliver a message for Martha to her cousin at a "Badlands Inn". *sigh*

At this point many of us were weary and tired of travelling. We had no idea where this "badlands" was. The best solution seemed to travel to every out-of-place inn in an attempt to discover the locale. Many recalls, moongating and long overland rides later, we discover that the badlands inn was located in a maze-like desert/mountains region in a very simple and small town in Ilshenar. Martha's cousin Magdalen was very concerned when we showed up. fearing another bad news from Martha. After reassuring her that we did not bear bad news, we were able to quickly discover that Inu needed her services as a terrain expert to dig up some black substance. Magdalen also added that Inu left for the Gargoyle city to try smelting the substance.

We thought we were getting close so we rushed off to Gargoyle city. After an encounter with a paragon lich on the way, we finally arrived at the Gargoyle Blacksmith. Forbrak was not very talkative until we found out that we needed to apprentice as blacksmiths and take the quiz. Fortunately for me, I grew up at my father's blacksmith shop and knew all the answers and was able to pass the quiz relatively easy, including the bonus question. After that, Forbrak was quick to tell us that Inu and Grizelda left on the same day. We were shocked. Inu AND Grizelda? Working together? That was impossible. We went to tell Sebastian the news. Sebastian could not believe it either, demanding us to return to Forbrak with him. Sebastian questioned Forbrak some more and failed the quiz. Much to our surprise failing the quiz yielded an important clue that we had overlooked. Inu and Grizelda did not leave togerher, they fought each other as it turns out.

We quickly went to see Grizelda to ask her about the fight. Grizelda was extremely angry at Inu, but revealed that she could track her anytime and had placed a teleporter to where Inu was hiding out. She said that revenge was the key to finding it. We searched for the teleporter and could not find it. Then I thought maybe we should check Grizelda's home in Felucca also, and it was there with Sebastian's help we discovered the image of the teleporter. Uttering the key word Grizelda had provided us, we were teleported to a cave filled with mysterious colored chests and an equally mysterious house. There was a book in the house mocking the Royal Guards and Grizelda.

It seemed Inu Wants a showdown with Grizelda and the Guards. Sebastian at this point indicated we had finally come to the conclusion of our quest and that he would summon the RBG the next day to finlly track her down once and for all. Here is the names of the fine folks who quested along with us:

Lady Morgana
Lady Shalamar
Ghost
BUCKCHOY
Lady Stealheart
Aurora
William Enterei
Moria Beltane
Zombie Ghost
Sebastian

Thank you all for helping with the quest. It was a pleasure working with you all!
