Sam Oxley's Story

Sam Oxley stood in the vault at the First Bank of Britain to recount a tale of theft to those who asked about his "clerk."

Note: The last word of each thing Sam said was the keyword for the next part.

Sam Oxley: Hello, before I worked as a Royal Aid, I worked here at the First Bank.
Sam Oxley: At the First Bank, I managed several clerks who recorded transactions.
Sam Oxley: The record of these transactions determined a patron's bank balance.
Sam Oxley: Such records are important to protect patron deposits and bank profits.
Sam Oxley: The problem with any system that handles money is theft.
Sam Oxley: Some unscrupulous clerks take advantage of their position.
Sam Oxley: My story is about such a clerks crime.
Sam Oxley: This clerk was stealing money from the bank and its patrons.
Sam Oxley: This clerk was also hidden well among several clerks who were honest.
Sam Oxley: I narrowed the search down to three people.
Sam Oxley: The clerks were Rebecca Eldridge, Glen Sandoval, and Philip Merrill. Continue?
Sam Oxley: I set a trap. Not a physical trap, of course, but still a trap.
Sam Oxley: The trap was simple: I made sure two accounts were handled exclusively.
Sam Oxley: By these three clerks, and I made sure to audit these books carefully.
Sam Oxley: The first account was a tavern which had regular wages and ale costs.
Sam Oxley: The second account was a jeweler which had irregular deposits and withdrawals.
Sam Oxley: After a month, my care and planning paid off.
Sam Oxley: By following the patterns on our books, I found out who was stealing.
Sam Oxley: You can read the accounts and see if you notice the pattern.
Sam Oxley: When you are done, go see the Elite Royal Guard at the castle.
Sam Oxley: Ask the guard about "arsons."
