Magnus Grey: This is going to be a strange request.
Magnus Grey: But since it is a delicate matter.
Magnus Grey: Those currently running things want to insure that we don't slip back into bad habits.
Magnus Grey: This means we actually follow the spirit of the law, not just the letter.
Magnus Grey: In this case, it means everyone gets a trial.
Magnus Grey: Normally, we could just leave this in the hands of the Court system
Magnus Grey: But this particular case has some delicate material.
Magnus Grey: Which you will see in the file James has provided.
Magnus Grey: So tonight, we need to put the former Royal Prosecutor on trial
Magnus Grey: And determine if he was a willing aid to Casca or whether he was in the wrong place, wrong time
Magnus Grey: We have a judge of the Court with us.
Magnus Grey: We will be using that system for the most part
Magnus Grey: Though Dawn suggested a jury trial if enough people remain.
Magnus Grey: I don't think we'll have room for a full jury
Magnus Grey: But who wants to sit back, listen, and then decide?
Martyna Z'muir: Er.. Woudn't we be too biased?
Magnus Grey: I want the jury to be newer members of the organization
Magnus Grey: Who don't know as many details
Magnus Grey: Sadly, bias is possible
Magnus Grey: But this case has certain details that are problematic.
Magnus Grey: Things we don't want to share in open court.
Magnus Grey: The results of the trial will be made public of course.
Magnus Grey: So if you want to be in the jury, stand in the back of the room.
Magnus Grey: Ra'Dian, do you mind being your judge self?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: It would be an 'onor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Truth, tempered by Compassion...
Magnus Grey: Now we need a prosecutor team and a defense team
Galen: *soft chuckles*
Martyna Z'muir: *smirks*
Magnus Grey: Who wants to prosecute?
Malag aste: I think Martyna would make a good prosecuter
Magnus Grey: Who wants to defend?
Martyna Z'muir: *raises hand*
Magnus Grey: Which one, Martyna? Prosecute?
Martyna Z'muir: Aye
Magnus Grey: Everyone who wishes to prosecute, please stand near Martyna
Magnus Grey: Those who wish to defend, stand there by the decorative armor
Magnus Grey: To insure that both sides do their best, the results of this trial will be on display.
Magnus Grey: I don't know your system. Which side sit where?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Th' prosecution on yer left, th' defense on yer right.
Magnus Grey: The accused will be along shortly, but I need to hand out this book first.
Martyna Z'muir: This is where the slime Casca sat during the sham trial of Ricardo.
Galen: *nods*
Martyna Z'muir: Should burn this chair...
Magnus Grey: There is a book with Court basics at each bench.
Magnus Grey: James wasn't sure what else to provide, since he is not a lawyer.
Magnus Grey: Anyone need anything before I retire and get the accused?
Grey: a week of trial prep?
Magnus Grey: Sadly
Magnus Grey: You will have 20 minutes?
Grey: That wil have to do
Magnus Grey: Shorter or longer?
Magnus Grey: We may have motions to remove some of you from the jury if you want
Martyna Z'muir: What is 8 + 4?
Galen: Twelve.
Magnus Grey: Good luck
Martyna Z'muir: That was for the jury..
Magnus Grey: I will be around if there are problems.
Galen: Ah.
Magnus Grey: But I'd rather my facial expressions don't influence things.
Magnus Grey: I am leaving extra books as well
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Is th' prosecution prepared t' present its case?
Martyna Z'muir: A few moment your honor, the evidence is lengthy..
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: I was about t' ask if th' Defense would like a few moments t' confer as well.
Grey: Aye
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *nods*

Martyna Z'muir: I believe the prosecution is ready, Your Honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Thank ye... is th' Defense prepared?
Grey: Your Honor I am prepared as can be.
Lars: All rise, the Honorable Ra'Dian Fl'Gith presiding.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Before th' trial begins, I would like t' enter yer client's official plea int' th' Court Record.... Grey: Not Guilty your Honor
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: So entered...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Does th' Prosecution 'ave an openin' statement it wishes t' present?
Martyna Z'muir: Aye, Your Honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *nods*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please proceed.
Martyna Z'muir: Mister Miller, former Royal Prosecutor during the reign of Casca, stands accused of accomplice to

murder and obstruction of justice.
Martyna Z'muir: A charge of treason could be leveled at him as well, but I do not believe that is in the Kingdom's

best interest...
Martyna Z'muir: We have had enough deaths recently.
Martyna Z'muir: However, Mister Miller was knowingly complicit in Casca's schemes.
Martyna Z'muir: Going so far as to hold sham trials, and subvert the spirit of Justice.
Martyna Z'muir: I would propose the Defendant ammend his plea to save the court the trouble of a trial.
Martyna Z'muir: That is all. Thank you, Your Honor.
Grey: Proposal denied.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Thank ye, m'lady.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lord Grey, does th' Defense 'ave an openin' statement it wishes t' present?
Grey: Yes, Thank you Your Honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *nods*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please proceed.
Grey: Ladies and Gentleman
Grey: You see here before you an innocent man.
Grey: A man, a victim of circumstance.
Grey: You will see in the evidence supplied
Grey: How this man followed the oders of his lord and commander,
Grey: in fear for his life and for the life of his family, and in many circumstances
Grey: called into question the integrity of the ruling lord
Grey: as was his proper duty
Grey: I could go on about this, but in the interest of the court, I shall leave it at this.
Grey: We cannot.
Grey: I repeat, Cannot
Grey: allow ourselves to succumb to the anger
Grey: and the indignance
Grey: we feel at the attrocities commited by Lord Casca
Grey: and allow our emotions to rule our society.
Grey: Thank you.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Thank ye, m'lord.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *looks back to the Prosecution*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lady Z'muir, are ye ready t' call yer first witness?
Martyna Z'muir: The only witness who is not dead, is Mister Miller himself.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *nods*
Martyna Z'muir: However, I can lay out the facts for the jury to consider.
Grey: Objection your honor
Grey: The prosecution would be speculating
Grey: on the defedants behalf
Martyna Z'muir: *raises a brow*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: I will allow th' Prosecution t' present facts obtained from th' evidence at 'and...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: It is an unusual situation.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Afterward, they may call m'lord Miller t' testify if they so wish.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *looks to the Prosecution*
Martyna Z'muir: Thank you, Your Honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please stay t' known evidence, an' dinnae stray int' conjecture, 'owe'er.
Martyna Z'muir: *nods*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Ye may proceed.
Martyna Z'muir: The accused was called to duty by Lord Casca, this fact is not in dispute.
Martyna Z'muir: However, Mister Miller had previously been disbarred from the Britannian legal community.
Grey: Objection your honor
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *looks to Grey*
Martyna Z'muir: During his service as Royal Prosecutor, he tried one Daniel Harper, a Royal Spy.
Grey: The disbarring of Mr Miller is not in question here tonight
Martyna Z'muir: *sighs*
Martyna Z'muir: It goes to his character, Your Honor.
Grey: I believe this confuses the issues
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Overruled. His ability as a prosecutor would certainly be relevant t' this case.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Ye shall be given th' opportunity t' 'ave yer client give statement t' such if there
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: are facts we're unaware o' regardin' this.
Grey: Thank you Your Honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *nods*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please continue, m'lady...
Martyna Z'muir: Thank you, Your Honor.
Martyna Z'muir: As I was saying, the trial of Daniel Harper...
Martyna Z'muir: Mister Miller willingly subverted not only the spirit of Justice, but the rights of Mister Harper as

well.
Grey: Objection
Grey: Conjecture
Grey: The prosecution
Grey: cannot assume to know
Grey: the intentions
Grey: of the defendant
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Sustained.
Martyna Z'muir: The transcript of the trial is quite clear, Your Honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please dinnae stray int' conjecture, m'lady.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Aye, but if ye wish t' learn 'is intent, ye'll need t' question 'im.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Paper cannae prove intent or mindset.
Martyna Z'muir: It is not the intent, but his actual actions I speak to.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Then please proceed wi' 'is actions.
Martyna Z'muir: *nods*
Martyna Z'muir: During this trial, Mister Miller allowed an obviously biased 'Judge' to hear the case without

objection.
Grey: Objection
Grey: also conjecture
Grey: and speculation
Grey: on the character of the judge
Grey: in question
Martyna Z'muir: Again, the transcript is quite clear.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Per'aps t' th' motives o' th' judge in question, aye, but 'e did willingly act as prosector,
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: that much is nae in question.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Overruled, please continue, m'lady.
Martyna Z'muir: This trial ended with the execution of Mister harper
Martyna Z'muir: During the Defense Counsel's opening statement, he said that Mister Miller was "following

orders"
Martyna Z'muir: While that is not directly in question, I believe that Mister Miller in fact posesses free will, and

regardless of any percieved threats to his family
Martyna Z'muir: acted in bad faith as Royal Prosecutor.
Martyna Z'muir: "I was merely following orders..." has been used to excuse far to many crimes.
Grey: Objection Your Honor
Grey: Are we presenting facts?
Grey: Or leading the Jury?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Sustained... please save that fer yer closin' statement, m'lady...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Per'aps ye'd like t' question th' witness? I would like t' add...
Martyna Z'muir: Aye
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: since there appears t' be only one livin' witness, th' prosecution will be allowed t' question,
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: th' defense a chance t' cross examine, an' th' prosecution a quick rebuttal,
Martyna Z'muir: *rolls her eyes*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: an' th' same shall be true fer th' defense's turn... defense may question, prosecution shall
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: cross examine, an' th' defense will be given brief rebuttal.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Just so that each is allowed a chance t' be fair.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lady, please call yer witness.
Martyna Z'muir: I call Thomas Miller to the stand, Your Honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lord Miller, please take th' stand.
Grey: *pats on shoulder*
Thomas Miller: *nods to his lawyer*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lord Miller, do ye
Thomas Miller: I swear.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: swear that th' testimony ye are about t' give
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: shall be th' truth?
Thomas Miller: I swear, Your Honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *nods*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please be seated.
Galen: *staring at the defendant from underneath his hood*
Grey: Your Honor, I'd like to know that the Jury can hear the defendant.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Also, a breif reminder, this is a 'uge chamber, so speak loudly.
Thomas Miller: *puts his hands on the table*
Grey: Thank you Your Honor.
Thomas Miller: Can you all hear me?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Mlady, please proceed.
Martyna Z'muir: Thank you, Your Honor...
Martyna Z'muir: Mister Miller...
Martyna Z'muir: Why were you disbarred?
Thomas Miller: I was disbarred because I lost a piece of evidence.
Martyna Z'muir: You 'lost' evidence?
Grey: Objection Your Honor, The prosecution is leading the witness.
Martyna Z'muir: Leading?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Overruled... 'e certainly may answer th' question.
Thomas Miller: It was found and did not impact the trial.
Thomas Miller: Being a lawyer yourself, I'm sure you understand the piles of paper.
Martyna Z'muir: What made you accept the position of Royal Prosecutor?
Thomas Miller: It is a major title and major position.
Thomas Miller: It is a good lawyer's dream job.
Thomas Miller: Being the kingdom's just hand.
Thomas Miller: Well under normal conditions...
Martyna Z'muir: Dream job.. Hmm..
Martyna Z'muir: And did you find it to be your 'dream job'?
Thomas Miller: No, the Court wasn't the Court I remembered.
Martyna Z'muir: Ah, and yet you willingly joined?
Thomas Miller: I learned about the problems after I joined.
Thomas Miller: I didn't expect midnight trials and hooded defendants.
Martyna Z'muir: But you stayed in the position, carrying out Casca's will?
Thomas Miller: Out of fear.
Martyna Z'muir: Fear.. Hmm...
Martyna Z'muir: Or for the fact you enjoyed the power?
Grey: Objection!
Grey: Your Honor!
Grey: This is gross misconduct
Grey: The prosecution is badgering the witness
Grey: I do not believe
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Gross may be a tad much, but it is a bit o'erboard... please refrain from
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: badgerin' th' witness.
Grey: Thank you
Martyna Z'muir: *sighs*
Martyna Z'muir: Mister Miller.. You prosecuted Daniel Harper, aye?
Thomas Miller: Yes
Martyna Z'muir: For what, exactly?
Thomas Miller: He was accused of treason.
Martyna Z'muir: Treason...
Thomas Miller: Yes
Martyna Z'muir: Against Casca?
Thomas Miller: Against the Kingdom
Thomas Miller: Casca was King pro-tempore.
Thomas Miller: So it couldn't have been treason against him.
Martyna Z'muir: Mmm. That he was.
Martyna Z'muir: As the prosecutor, and a sworn officer of the court, why did you take this case to trial in front of

an Enforcer?
Thomas Miller: The Enforcer was sworn into the Court by Lord Casca in front of another judge.
Thomas Miller: He was a legal judge at the time.
Thomas Miller: I don't second guess judges.
Martyna Z'muir: So the Enforcer not only 'enforced' casca's laws on the streets, but also sat in judgement of the

accused?
Grey: Objection your Honor, Is the nature of the judge in case now in question?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *looks to Martyna*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Do ye 'ave a purpose t' this line o' questionin'?
Martyna Z'muir: It is insomuch as he participated in this court
Martyna Z'muir: Despits its obvious contradictions.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: A'ight... please continue, but please stay closer t' th' matter at 'and.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Objection overruled, but please bring it back closer t' facts at 'and.
Martyna Z'muir: *nods*
Martyna Z'muir: Please answer the question, Mister Miller...
Thomas Miller: *nods*
Thomas Miller: I know there are precedents
Thomas Miller: In small areas where the judge is also a guard.
Thomas Miller: Usually not on cases where they arrest though.
Thomas Miller: I do agree it was highly unusual.
Martyna Z'muir: And yet you willingly went to trial against Mister Harper...
Grey: Objection Your Honor
Grey: Conjecture
Grey: The prosecution
Martyna Z'muir: Again, the transcript is quite clear.
Grey: cannot know the defendants intentions or feelings about the matter
Grey: or how willingly he went
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: If it is conjecture, this is certainly m'lord Miller's opportunity t' provide insight.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: I think we may all agree m'lord Miller knows 'ow 'e feels, aye?
Grey: Thank you Your Honor.
Grey: Yes Your Honor
Thomas Miller: *frowns*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please continue, m'lady.
Martyna Z'muir: He was there, he acted as prosecutor.
Thomas Miller: I did the job I was sworn in to.
Martyna Z'muir: Without reservation?
Thomas Miller: I was not sworn in as a judge of judges or as a defense lawyer.
Thomas Miller: I was an instrument of the kingdom. I was presented with evidence, and I presecuted.
Martyna Z'muir: Persecuted.. Aye.. I would agree..
Martyna Z'muir: Withdrawn'
Grey: *nods*
Martyna Z'muir: Speaking of defense counsel, the transcript appears to be remiss in listing one for Mister Harper..

Why is that?
Thomas Miller: I do not know. Maybe he wished to defend himself.
Martyna Z'muir: Hmm.. He appears to have tried.. And was gagged.
Martyna Z'muir: Why did you not object to this treatment of the deceased?
Grey: Objection Your Honor, Leading the Jury, referring to Daniel Harper as the deceased
Grey: instead of the defendant
Grey: lends an emotional tone
Martyna Z'muir: Mister Harper is, in fact, deceased.
Grey: True
Grey: but in this case
Grey: he was a defendant
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Sustained... th' defendant o' that trial shall be referred to as th' defendant or m'lord

'arper.
Grey: Thank you Your Honor
Martyna Z'muir: Why did you not object to the treatment of the... defendant.
Thomas Miller: He was in contempt of court and interupting my presentation of evidence?
Thomas Miller: I suspect you would object if I just said my mind while you were talking.
Martyna Z'muir: It doesn't appear if Mister Harper was ever given the opportunity to even enter a plea..
Thomas Miller: He did enter a plea of not guilty.
Thomas Miller: Prior to the trial I believe.
Martyna Z'muir: Let alone defend himself. And you still find this acceptible?
Thomas Miller: From the evidence I was given, I believed he was guilty. It wasn't my job to defend him.
Martyna Z'muir: Actually, no, Mister Miller, the defendant was never able to defend himself, nor enter a plea.
Martyna Z'muir: Agan, the transcript is quite clear.
Martyna Z'muir: You are correct, it is not your duty to defend him, but it was your duty to abide by the rules of

the court.
Thomas Miller: Is that a question of some sort?
Martyna Z'muir: 'Judge' Xavier... *shudders* did not abide by mister Harper's rights, as an officer of the court how

could you in good consience go along with that?
Thomas Miller: Fear?
Thomas Miller: Have you seen the weapons those guys carry?
Martyna Z'muir: Just.. fear?
Thomas Miller: I think so, though I'm sure in your summation you'll add some bloodlust and rage or something.
Galen: Outburst.
Malag aste: I want that last outburst striken from the records
Galen: Or we could gag him....thanks to him, there is precedent for that, your Honor.
Martyna Z'muir: So you looked the other way in.. fear.. while Mister Harper's rights were ignored?
Grey: *stares wide-eyed at judge*
Grey: Obejection Your Honor, is this going anywhere?
Thomas Miller: *laughs*
Martyna Z'muir: I believe my collegues intended that as an objection, Your Honor...
Malag aste: And allowed injustice to be carried out and Mr Harper to be sentanced to death?
Thomas Miller: I guess I should have just waited for the new tyrant to walk in and threaten me.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Th' jury will please ignore th' statement regardin' rage an' bloodlust...
Grey: *sigh*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: As fer th' current line o' questionin', please summate in th' near future.
Grey: Thank you Your Honor
Thomas Miller: Harper got a short lot of justice, but I just used the evidence I was given.
Martyna Z'muir: No, you should have stood for Justice, not Cowardice.
Thomas Miller: I followed my oath.
Grey: Your Honor!
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lady Z'muir, this shall be yer last warnin' about badgerin' a witness.
Martyna Z'muir: Your oath? To toady to Casca's deranged whims?
Grey: Your Honor!
Malag aste: What oath is that?
Martyna Z'muir: He opened the door, Your Honor!
Grey: *seethes*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Ye may still phrase yer questions wi' decorum expected o' an officer o' th' Court.
Malag aste: Fine if your oath was to disallow justice in favor of cowardice.
Martyna Z'muir: You mentioned your oath... What, or who, was that to?
Grey: *pounds head on desk*
Malag aste: But I think your oath was to uphold justice was it not?
Thomas Miller: The Court and Britannia
Thomas Miller: The Prosecutor brings charges and presents evidence against the accused.
Thomas Miller: It isn't his job to ask for mistrials.
Martyna Z'muir: And yet to sat idly by while Justice was perverted?
Grey: *leaves head on desk*
Grey: This is sick
Thomas Miller: Maybe I could have done more, but that's not what I'm on trial for!
Thomas Miller: You blame me for that poor kid's death!
Thomas Miller: But I didn't kill him! I just didn't take a halberd to the gut for him.
Malag aste: Accessory to his death aye.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lady, 'ave ye further questions that pertain t' th' crimes 'e's accused of?
Thomas Miller: The evidence against him was clear. I presented it. That was all I did.
Martyna Z'muir: All you did...
Malag aste: Yet you admit his trial was a hoax
Malag aste: And you admit you participated in it.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: One prosecutor at a time please...
Malag aste: Without objection
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Ye cannae both just start shoutin' questions at 'im.
Martyna Z'muir: *looks over*
Malag aste: *crosses his arms*
Malag aste: *scowling*
Martyna Z'muir: You said fear guided your actions...
Thomas Miller: Yes
Martyna Z'muir: Do you feel your time in office was well spent, or do you feel remorse for your actions.. and

inactions?
Grey: Your Honor, are we here to philosophize on the nature of justice or present the facts?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: I'll allow th' question, but please after this, find a way t' draw yer case t' a conclusion.
Martyna Z'muir: *nods*
Martyna Z'muir: *waits*
Martyna Z'muir: Your Honor, please instruct the Defendant to answer the question..
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *looks to Thomas*
Thomas Miller: *frowns*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lord Miller, please answer th' question...
Thomas Miller: I didn't want to be another corpse on the pile.
Thomas Miller: That's my answer.
Martyna Z'muir: A corpse on the pile.. fascinating
Martyna Z'muir: I an finished with this witness at this time, Your Honor..
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *nods*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lord Grey, do ye wish t' cross examine?
Grey: Thank you Your Honor.
Grey: Mr Miller
Grey: In what capacity did you serve the court in the case in question?
Thomas Miller: I was the prosecutor.
Grey: Given the evidence did you believe the defendant to be guilty?
Thomas Miller: Yes
Grey: Did you know the defendant prior to the trial?
Thomas Miller: No, never met him.
Grey: Can I assume there was no personal attachment to the case?
Thomas Miller: None.
Grey: So
Grey: I can assume you performed the duties given to you as a sworn prosecutor of the land?
Thomas Miller: Yes
Grey: Given that it was not your job to judge the trial, and allowign for hindsight...
Grey: do you feel it was a fair trial?
Thomas Miller: I did my part fairly.
Grey: I see.
Grey: So, I can deduce that given all the circumstances
Grey: You performed your duties as written by law.
Galen: Your honor....We must object....you did not allow us to draw conclusions
Galen: during examination.
Galen: That's exactly what defense counsel is doing.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Sustained... please form your conclusions as questions fer th' witness t' answer.
Grey: Do you feel
Grey: As an expert in the field
Grey: That you performed your duties as written by law and as your oath was given
Martyna Z'muir: Objection!
Thomas Miller: Yes, I do.
Grey: Thank you I have no further questions
Martyna Z'muir: This witness had perviously been disbarred, the term 'expert' is suspect.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Overruled... it is... a matter o' trivia at present.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Do ye 'ave any quick rebuttal questions, m'lady?
Galen: I do your Honor, with Martyna's permission.
Martyna Z'muir: *nods*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Proceed.
Galen: Thank you, your honor.
Galen: *speaks quietly
Galen: Can you hear me, Counselor?
Thomas Miller: Yes
Galen: During your testimony you stated that you were convinced of the victim's guilt
Thomas Miller: I did.
Galen: by the evidence presented....the official transcripts shows that the evidence consisted
Galen: largely of the fact that he didn't have an alibi. Is that what you were
Galen: convinced by, Counselor?
Thomas Miller: Yes.
Galen: Did you have an alibi for the crimes the victim was accused of?
Thomas Miller: Not that I remember.
Galen: To your knowledge, does His Honor *gestures to Ra'Dian* have an alibi
Galen: for the crimes the victim was accused of?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *raises an eyebrow*
Galen: Did you not hear the question, COunmselor?
Thomas Miller: It is a strange one.
Galen: Answer it never the less.
Galen: What about me....
Thomas Miller: Or course the judge has an alibi?
Galen: To your knowledge, do I have an alibi for those crimes?
Galen: What about Xavier?
Thomas Miller: Um...sure?
Grey: Your Honor I believe this line of questioning to be a waste of time...
Galen: No your honor.
Galen: THis line of questioning is offered to impeach the witness,
Galen: and goes DIRECTLY to the question at issue.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: A'ight... wi' regard t' this line o' questionin', please wrap up...
Galen: He offers as a partial defense for the crimes he's accused of
Galen: that he was acting as prosecutor, and was convinced
Galen: of the defendant's guilt.
Galen: By the standard of guilt he was using, anyone without an alibi
Galen: could ahve been guilty.
Galen: Therefore, either the defendant was stupid, which is not the case, OR
Galen: he was acting not as a prosecutor.
Galen: But as an accessory.
Galen: Per the charges.
Galen: Now Counselor. *turning to the defendant*
Galen: You are aware, of course that there's a letter to your sister as part of the record.
Thomas Miller: Yes
Thomas Miller: Where I mentioned my concerns...
Galen: Yes. And you refererred to the trials you participated in as...
Galen: *looks over the letter*
Galen: the form and pomp of a false trial." Are those your words, quoting your father?
Thomas Miller: Yes
Thomas Miller: I kept my head down during the Casca regime, I will admit, but I did not aid it.
Galen: So by your own words...you participated in false trials. Is participation keeping your head down?
Galen: Does the word participation mean participation?
Galen: Answer COunselor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Let us nae stray int' semantics o' word definition, an' please sum up yer rebuttal.
Galen: Again your honor, this isn't semantics.
Thomas Miller: I did the job I was told to do by a tyrant.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Ye'll 'ave th' chance t' make a closin' statement.
Thomas Miller: That is keeping my head down.
Galen: No Counselor, by yuor own words, it wasn't.
Galen: Quoting from your own letter.
Thomas Miller: *frowns*
Galen: "I believe Lord Casca has crossed the line with some of the people
Galen: he has asked me to work to convinct. Since I'd rather not
Galen: get on his bad side, I will continue to do the work."
Galen: Doing the work isn't the same thing as keeping your head down, is it Counselor.
Galen: Answer, Counselor.
Thomas Miller: By your standards, no.
Galen: Until your case...the case you prosecuted...
Galen: Are you aware of any legal precedent for gagging a defendant in open court, and not
Galen: allowing him to defend himself in his own words?
Thomas Miller: I think there was a mute defendant a few years back.
Galen: Not the question.
Galen: COngratulations COunselor, you have reached the apex of your prosecutorial career
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: A'ight... ye've moved out o' rebuttal an' int' new testimony 'ere...
Thomas Miller: Then, not that I know of.
Galen: by participating in a dictator's murder spree.
Galen: No further questions your Honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Th' defendant is nae th' judge, nor presided o'er th' court.
Grey: Objection!
Galen: What is learned counsel objecting to?
Galen: I have ceased my questioning.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: A'ight...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lord Grey...
Grey: "I move that the preceding whould be stricken from the record
Grey: Yes Your Honor?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Aye, th' portion about th' proceedin's an' gaggin' shall be stricken...
Grey: Thank You Your Honor
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lord Grey, we'll move t' yer case, gi'en th' 'our...
Galen: ...Your Honor....*shrugs*
Grey: Just a Few Questions Your Honor
Grey: Mr Miller, Have you ever been in combat?
Thomas Miller: No
Galen: Objection; relevancy.
Martyna Z'muir: Objection! Relevence!
Grey: Have you ever had to defend yourself from a trained attacker?
Martyna Z'muir: Objection!
Thomas Miller: The three shouting prosecutors...
Galen: Your Honor...This is an ourburst, not a line of questioning.
Grey: Your Honor I elieve it is relevant tothe case
Martyna Z'muir: How is combat experience relevent to the charges in this case?
Grey: I will be brief, Your Honor
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *nods*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please continue...
Grey: Mr Miller, Have you ever raised objections to the conduct of Lord Casca?
Thomas Miller: Yes
Grey: And his response?
Thomas Miller: I sent him a letter about some issues in the court.
Thomas Miller: He called me a fool.
Grey: Aye.
Thomas Miller: And told me to just sign the papers.
Grey: Have you seen Lord Casca's Response to other opposition?
Thomas Miller: Yes.
Grey: What did that entail?
Thomas Miller: Arrest. Detention. Punishment. Death.
Grey: Did you believe that further objection on your part would result in bodily harm?
Thomas Miller: Yes.
Grey: So
Grey: As a man unaccustomed to physical attack, you most likely feared the worst?
Thomas Miller: Yes
Thomas Miller: I couldn't defend myself or my sister.
Martyna Z'muir: Objection, calls for speculation.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: What's speculation about 'is belief that 'e couldnae defend 'imself or 'is sister?
Martyna Z'muir: The previous question about fearing the worst.
Malag aste: The belief that he'd have to for starters.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: I wish nae t' become a testifier o' this case, so I will 'old m' comments t' m'self,
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: but... objection overruled.
Grey: And you continued to do your job in fear for your sister's life, and for yours?
Thomas Miller: Yes.
Grey: And performed your duties to the best of your abliities?
Thomas Miller: Yes
Grey: Thank you I have no further questions.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lady, does th' Prosecution wish t' cross examine?
Martyna Z'muir: Aye.. Your Honor
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please do so... wi' expedience.
Martyna Z'muir: Were you or your sister ever directly threatened by the Cascan Regime?
Thomas Miller: I displeased Casca with my letter to him, but no direct threats.
Martyna Z'muir: So your fear of reprisals is based on speculation.
Grey: Objection
Grey: Leading the Witness
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Th' quesiton may be answered.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: As long as it is formed as a question...
Martyna Z'muir: So your fear of reprisals is based on speculation?
Thomas Miller: I think it is a fact that Casca was a brutal tyrant. We can call that speculation if we want.
Thomas Miller: And water is also wet I speculate.
Martyna Z'muir: And yet you were never threatened.
Martyna Z'muir: Your sister was never threatened.
Thomas Miller: Not directly no.
Thomas Miller: But if you want, I can explain more.
Thomas Miller: Counselor?
Martyna Z'muir: You said that your actions were out of fear, where did the proper and professional conduct an

officer of the court should uphold disappear to?
Thomas Miller: I did my best within an oppressive and broken system.
Martyna Z'muir: Your best?
Thomas Miller: Could you have done better? Maybe carried your sick sister into the mountains?
Martyna Z'muir: Or did you, as my college questioned earlier, merely keep your head down and allow fear to warp

Justice?
Thomas Miller: And came charging into Britain with a barrel-chested sword-fight?
Martyna Z'muir: I ask that the Defendant's outburt be stricken, Your Honor.
Thomas Miller: I kept my head down to protect my own neck. I will admit to that.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Ye did ask 'im if 'e'd done 'is best...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *shrugs his shoulders*
Martyna Z'muir: Protect your own neck.. At the expense of others?
Thomas Miller: Can I respond to that with a question, a bit of speculation?
Thomas Miller: Had I stood up to Casca about that random spy, would that spy be alive today?
Thomas Miller: Knowing that Casca is a tyrant as water is wet?
Martyna Z'muir: Perhaps. I did not see prognostication in your bio.
Thomas Miller: I didn't risk my life on a lost cause. I'm guilty of not dying stupidly.
Martyna Z'muir: No, but you are guilty of allowing other men to die because you 'kept your head down' and 'followed

orders'..
Grey: Your Honor, this line of questioning has been covered quite extensively.... Seeing as I have
Martyna Z'muir: Nothing further.
Grey: already offered a rebuttal
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *nods*
Grey: I move we move on to closing statements?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lord Grey, do ye wish t' rebut?
Thomas Miller: I'll fall on my sword for you all next tyrant if it makes you feel better.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *nods*
Grey: Nay Your Honor, I believe the defendant did that quite eloquently
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lord Miller, ye may return t' yer seat.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: We'll move t' closin' statements.
Thomas Miller: Thank you, your honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lord Grey, are ye prepared wi' yer closin' statement?
Grey: Yes, Your Honor
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please proceed.
Grey: Ladies and gentleman
Grey: I believe this to be a witch hunt
Grey: We have established that The defendant
Grey: simply performed his duties
Grey: as was written by the law of the land
Grey: and did not act out of flaw of character
Grey: as has been established
Grey: The charges before the court
Grey: are a tool of anger
Grey: to find justice
Grey: against a lord and tyrant
Grey: not the simple man you see before you
Grey: If we convict this man
Grey: it is not because of the evidence before us
Grey: but because of anger in our hearts
Grey: If we wish to live in a just society
Grey: we must find compassion
Grey: for those that were
Grey: oppressed
Grey: and coerced
Grey: into acts
Grey: that we may find condemnable
Grey: Thank you for your patience.
Grey: Thank you Your Honor
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Thank ye, m'lord.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lady, is th' Prosecution prepared wi' it's closin' statement?
Martyna Z'muir: Aye, Your Honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please proceed.
Martyna Z'muir: I'm not sure what trial Lord Grey has been watching, but Mister Miller neither upheld his oath of

office, the Spirit of Justice, nor the faith of the Peoples of Britannia.
Martyna Z'muir: Out of fear and cowardice he allowed a percieved 'threat' to sway his actions and infringe on the

rights of Mister Harper.
Grey: *puts hand on defendants shoulder*
Martyna Z'muir: His inaction resulted in the furtherence of the 'sham trial' - his words - which resulted in an

execution.
Martyna Z'muir: Lord Grey urged Compassion.. Where was the Compassion for Mister Harper?
Martyna Z'muir: Where was the Justice?
Martyna Z'muir: Simply performing one's duties does not mean one is not culpable for the results.
Martyna Z'muir: It is without question that Casca was a tyrant and a tool of the Shadowlords.
Martyna Z'muir: Mister Miller allowed himself to be used as a tool as well.
Martyna Z'muir: And he must be held accountable.
Martyna Z'muir: Justice must be served for Mister Harper.
Martyna Z'muir: Thank you, Your Honor.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Thank ye...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: A'ight... members o' th' jury...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: I need one o' ye t' act as a foreman for me...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lady Cierra...
Cierra: yes?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Ye'll act as foreman.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: We're goin' t' keep this simple, else we'll be 'ere all eve.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please take about five minutes t' deliberate.
Cierra: aye
Galen: *whispering*
Cierra: where shall we deliberate?
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: An' then, if ye would each tell Cierra whether ye find th' defendant guilty or not guilty
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: o' each o' th' two charges...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: 'e is, I remind ye, accused both o' obstruction o' justice
Cierra says: ok we will deliberate and return with our verdict
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: an' accomplace t' murder.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: We will determine guilt or non-guilt by majority vote on each charge.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Else we may be 'ere for th' rest o' eternity.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please proceed, an' be back in approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: This court stands in recess.
Grey: Well done prosecutor.
Grey: *extends hand*
Martyna Z'muir: And to you as well..
Martyna Z'muir: *shakes hand*
Grey: And now we will see...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: I'm nae used t' a court so large.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: 'as th' jury completed its deliberations?
Cierra: We the jury find the defendent Thomas Miller on the count of obstrution of justice
Cierra: Guilty
Grey: *hangs head*
Grey: *puts hand on shoulder*
Cierra: And we the jury find Thomas Miller on the charge of accomplice to murder
Cierra: Guilty
Grey: *sigh*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *nods*
Grey: "Tragedy...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: This Court thanks th' jury fer its service.
Cierra: *nods*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: *looks to Thomas*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: M'lord Miller, ye 'ave been found guilty by jury o' th' crime o' bein' an accomplace
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: t' murder, an' o' th' crime o' obstruction o' Justice.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: This Court knows that true Justice comes through th' Truth,
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: but that it is always tempered by Compassion.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Th' Cascan regime left a large scar across Britannia, both physically,
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: an' philosphically.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: It is therefore th' rulin' o' this Court that on th' lesser charge, that o' th' obstruction
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: o' Justice, that ...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: ye shall be required t' attend classes at th' Lycaeum on th' matter o' Justice,
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: an' shall, in one year's time, report back t' this Court wi' an essay on what you feel
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: true Justice is.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Additionally, ye shall be barred from serving as a Counselor in Britannian courts.
Grey: *shakes head*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: On th' greater charge, accomplace t' murder...
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: I know th' public desire is t' see justice fer m'lord 'arper's fate.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: An' per'aps it would be th' case in a Cascan court that ye would be punished most
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: severely, but we are all thankful th' days o' Casca are be'ind us.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Therefore, it is th' rulin' o' this Court that ye shall be remanded t' th' Yew Prison
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: for a term o' two years.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Durin' this time, arrangements shall be made fer ye t' attend th' Lycaeum
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: under supervision.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: On a personal note, I understand yer fears.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: But fear is nae a reason fer inaction.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Per'aps yes both ye an' m'lord 'arper would now be dead instead o' m'lord 'arper.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: An' yer sister too... I believe yer fear o' th' Cascan regime.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: But in all things, ye must find it wi'in yerself th' Virtue t' stand fer what is right.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: For were it nae fer virtuous folk, Casca would still be in power.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: So sentence is passed. May th' Virtues guide ye from 'ere forth.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Ye will be given one week t' wrap up yer affairs.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Please report t' Yew prison in that time. I dinnae believe ye t' be a flight risk.
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: This courtroom stands adjourned.
Grey: Thank you your Honor.
Grey: Well, I did my best
Lars: All rise, the Honorable Ra'Dian Fl'Gith presiding.

Lynch: Justice has not been served... He should be made an example of!!!!
Martyna Z'muir: *mumbles about children*
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: Examples are Casca's methods.
Lynch: Justice has not been served... He should be made an example of!!!!
Kasavar the Dark: Is not Compassion one of the Virtues?
Kasavar the Dark: Are you daft?
Magnus Grey: I have a scout keeping an eye on Miller.
Lynch: Justice will always win over evil
Magnus Grey: So no need to bother him.
Lynch: Justice has not been served... He should be made an example of!!!!
Kasavar the Dark: To punish him harshly would be no better than what casca would do!
Magnus Grey: That said, thank you all for your hard work.
Malag aste: M'Lord Ra'Dian is the finest Justicar in the lands.
Martyna Z'muir: Aye.
Magnus Grey: Thank you, your honor
Ra'Dian Fl'Gith: It was m' 'onor t' serve.
Magnus Grey: I have already written down most of the names of people here.
Magnus Grey: We don't have time for a full debriefing tonight.
Magnus Grey: Since I should let us all off to sleep.
Magnus Grey: If you have comments, please send a letter along
Magnus Grey: Good night all.
