~*~*~*~*~*~

You recall hearing about this ancient Tokuno tradition. On, or shortly after, a baby’s thirtieth day of life, the parents throw a Red Egg and Ginger party to celebrate the infant’s health and to formally announce the name.

September 25, 2010
Queen Dawn and the baby princess platinum dragon met many well-wishers in the throne room of Castle Britannia. Unfortunately, the Queen said that the messenger sent out to retrieve missives from the baby’s fairy godmothers hadn’t returned. Since their blessings were needed for the ceremony, she requested that those present go out and obtain them.

Queen Dawn cast a gate to the first fae, Benevolence. This cheerful sprite said she had given her message to the messenger and had been meditating quietly since. Fortunately, she had kept copy and allowed it to be scribed from.

After returning to the throne room, the Queen said that the next two fairy godmothers were in Ilshenar: Queen Silvani and Princess Nissa.

A gate to the fae city of Bet-Lem-Reg was cast where the group quickly found Queen Silvani. She too said that the messenger had already been there and allowed her copy to be scribed. She then said that she had been surprised to find that the ‘baby’ was a platinum dragon and not a human when Queen Dawn brought the baby to meet her fairy godmothers the day before. When asked where Princess Nissa could be found, she directed the group to the Twin Oaks Tavern on the other side of Termir Ilshen.

As the party followed the road around the lake, they encountered an unpleasant being calling itself Fairy Nettle. The fairy attacked those present, while speaking curses on the baby dragon. Apparently, Nettle was an evil fairy godmother angry at the fact she had been excluded. When she was defeated, Queen Dawn’s messenger from the Speedy Wings Courier Service was freed.

Princess Nissa was easily found in the tavern as she had been impatiently awaiting the messenger. In her boredom, she had hidden her message so she could be entertained by a search for it. She had a riddle for her hiding place: “Where does a prince sleep when he's not himself?” When questioned further, she said: “Because he's being a frog, silly. They do that, princes, you know.” Many eyes rolled as the group sped for the nearby pond. Nissa’s message sat on a floating lily pad.

Back at the castle, Queen Dawn presented the baby platinum dragon with the three messages and placed her in a circle with the Bell of Courage, the Candle of Love, and the , Book of Truth. She them began to speak:

“The family that are the people of Britannia value three things very highly.

The first is Courage, represented by the Bell of Courage. The second is Love, represented by the Candle of Love. The third is truth, represented by the Book of Truth.
These are things we value and as a member of our family, you will be taught all about them.

And the three books in front of you are from your fairy godmothers.

Now for your name, little one. Our family has decided. Your name is Mirendel.

Our new friend is named and the formal ceremony complete!”

The Queen then lead everyone to the formal dining room for a banquet in Princess Mirendel’s honor.
