Bio:
Virtuebane is a particularly foul and vile demon lord. His purpose is pretty much spelled out in his name. The research of Agatha the Archaeologist and the scholars of the Lycaeum suggests that he is very, very old.
His direct influence in Sosaria considerably predated his appearance, going back to the Demon Invasions of Magincia. His direct influence was unwitting facilitated by Queen Dawn's attempt to manipulate the Crysal of Duplicity to break Virtuebane's hold over Magincia Island.
Virtuebane recruited a number of human followers, who became known as the Bane Chosen, and with them and his more conventional demonic minions (and some help from the Demon Conclave of Hythloth) he attacked Britannian cities, did terrible damage, and occupied the Island of Magincia for a considerable period.
He also killed the Warrior Queen of Britannia, Dawn, using her own husband as the murder weapon.
The research of Agatha and the scholars of the Lycaeum uncovered that the way to defeat him was a combination of conventional attacks, and humiliating him (approximating the Virtue of Humility). The coordinated forces of the Britannian Royal Guard, the Britannian Armed Forces (High Council militia), and the Magincian Crusade (a series of attempts to reclaim Magincia led by Galen Knighthawke), eventually weakened Virtuebane and forced him out of Sosaria.
Unfortunately, we were unable to kill him, and I do suppose his return is all-but-inevitable.
