Bio:
Poxcrafter was a demonic lich with a great talent at creating and manipulating demonic toxins and contagions. Some decades (or more) prior to the time of writing, he unleashed a test case of his magnum opus on a small village. He was defeated in his efforts, however, by an enterprising young man who brought down the side of a mountain, sealing the disease, Poxcrafter, and unfortunately all of the diseased residents in.
Some decades, or more, later, Poxcrafter was brought out of his tomb by the evil Cult of Styx, who was more than happy to assist him unleash his demonic contagion into the world, starting with the City of Yew.
In a strange twist, it was Poxcrafter's thoroughness and care as a scholar and expert at what he did that brought an end to his vile work. He had written down the cure to the plague, as well how to bring it about. After he was slain, along with the equally-evil Imperus Noxum, a member of the Royal Spies (who ironically was believed to be suffering from the demonic malady himself after many encounters with the Cult of Styx and Poxcrafter's minions) remembered the curative spell was written down in his notes. The spell was cast by a Meer mage, and the threat was for the moment banished. The infected spy appears to have been cured along with Yew.
Due to a strange impact on the timeline, prior to defeating Poxcrafter, the Royal Spies were able to glimpse an alternate future wherein his plans had succeeded. The results were most unpleasant.
