  • Of Lovers, Facets, and Factions

Once upon a time, there was Mondain, evil mage, creator of the Gem of Immortality that "fathered" all of the worlds we live on, and all around evil-doer.

Evil has always held a powerful allure for some women, and no exception was a young lady named Minax, who fell in love with Mondain and became his lover and apprentice. The two produced much dark magic together, including the evil entity known as Exodus.

Minax was angry, as lovers are oft-wont to be in such circumstances, when her mentor was slain by The Stranger (also known as The Avatar), at the behest of Lord British. In revenge, she attacked the Shrines, the Cities, and indeed the very Virtues themselves with a bitter savagery. Her armies were often headed by General Keeonan. Trinsic in particular was singled out for brutal attacks by Undead, often led personally by Minax. The city was lost for months before it was regained in a big battle led by Dupre.

Minax wasn't done with us, however, and her further assaults led in part to the "splitting" of our world into Trammel and Felucca. Most good people, along with Lord British and the government, left for Trammel. Minax and Lord British became 2 of 4 Factions fighting a never-ending war for Felucca (known to us as "Factions").

Truth be told however, Minax and other evil-doers had an unbreakable hold upon the hearts and minds of Britannia back then, and the creation of and retreat to Trammel was all-but-inevitable.

  • The Revenge of the Enchantress

Time passed. Britannians got used to Trammel and its unique charms. Lord British disappeared, and then returned, and Minax it seemed had also faded, never seen in-person.

Then, not long after Lord British returned, Minax did too. This time she attacked both Trammel and Felucca. Among other things, endless armies of Orcs at her behest brutally assaulted the City of Moonglow. Minax tried to form a Dark Council of evil to counteract the Royal Council and High Council that advised Lord British, though the Dark Council appears to have been successfully destroyed by the Royal Guard in a battle in the Dungeon Destard in Felucca. Many of Minax's attacks were led by General Keeonan as before, though he was eventually killed by Minax herself, either to prevent him from talking to us or as a punishment for being captured.

Eventually, it appeared as though Minax's attacks were directed towards acquiring a powerful artifact, rumored to be a shard of the Gem of Immortality similar to that which was sought by the Shadowlords many years later. Lord British for some reason decided he had to guard this artifact personally, and left with it for the Ethereal Void to guard it from Minax.

  • Minax Today

Minax has not been heard from directly since the second departure of Lord British. However, her presence in our realm is still felt. The twin legacies of Minax and Mondain, in the form of various unique monsters (such as Dread Horn and Lady Melisade) and in the form of the ambitions of the villanious continues to be a presence in our realm. Further, we know she is still alive because correspondence is periodically intercepted between her and The Travesty, the "Peerless" of the Citadel Dungeon in the Tokuno Islands. Through this correspondence, we know that she engages in minor efforts to bribe and otherwise exercise an influence the government, at the bureaucracy at the level. Curiously, Minax was not heard from during the reign of Casca and the battles with the evil Shadowlords.

But she still sits, out there somewhere, watching, and waiting.
