Status: Living....Or, perhaps, a better term would be "responsive"
Barry the Moongate is the Luna Moongate. It first became sentient, or made us aware of its sentience, following the appearance of Inu the Crone, when Moongates appeared to become of importance for reasons that were never quite clear to any of us. (We now know that the Moongates were being effected by the Shadowlords attempts to enter our realm through the Ethereal Void. Conventional Moongates proved inadequate to the task, and the Shadowlords were forced to find another point of entry.)
For years after the events that made Barry sentient or made the rest of us aware of his sentience, even as the magic dissipated somewhat, Barry could still be communicated with in a rudimentary way. He was frequently seen chiding people for not referring to their pets by the pets' names.
His voice, however, has not been heard --literally or figuratively-- for quite some time. He was not heard from during the events involving Exodus's making a tear in the Ethereal Void at the Honor Moongate, for example, and this seems like the time when he would've made himself heard had he still been able to.
