Dear Mr. Wilder,

Thank you for your kind words and thoughtful letter. It has been far too long.

I have looked into your questions on magical mind control. There are various warding spell to prevent mind control, but for the best protection, Caddellite is required. Unfortunately, the metal is not common to our world and generally falls from the sky.

Looking into my notes, a caddellite meteorite fell from the sky several hundred years ago. It broke into two pieces, the larger of which was never found. The smaller fragment landed in the mountains near Dungeon Deceit. It is said that the day it landed, a great lich came out of the ground and commanded his servants, the Brothers Hydra, to guard the rock. I know some have tried to find it at 104o10'N 167o30'W in Trammel.

For mind control spells that have been active for a while, other means are necessary. I will research this more. There may be means to help your young friend.
