The Demon Conclave has voted to help you in this matter with a clear majority. Since I asked for the vote, I was nominated to see this through.

The Cult of Styx is in possession of a mythical demonic artifact, the Cauldron of Rebirth. The Cauldron is actually misnamed. Those who are “reborn” cannot talk nor think on their own, since they are simply animated by magic. The artifact was the creation of a necromancer demon who found humanoid undead fascinating. Unfortunately for demonkind and himself, he was able to animate demons as well. While normally, it would amuse us to see you attacked by undead, since the army would be kidnaped and slain demons, we are less than amused. The Cauldron of Rebirth has one major flaw. It simply requires a great deal of magic to animate something to a state equal to life. The animated corpse has no soul, but none of the weakness. This magic must come from a particular form of mana, corruption. Normally, it takes months to gather enough spite and bite and malevolence to charge the cauldron.

Unfortunately, the Shadowlords and their human servants cast powerful spells, allowing more corruption to bleed into our world. The Cult is merely gorging themselves on this to feed the Cauldron and likely for other ends, like summoning their master. I do not know the location where the corruption is bleeding through, but I do believe a leyline is a likely location. Leylines are powerful alignments of places of mystical interest that resonate with mana. While usually, the locations of interest are related to the type of mana produced, the last year’s spells have changed a lot. Casca was remarkably good at shifting a few leylines while completely destroying your infrastructure. I have to admire him.
