Title: Letter

Author: Veland

My love,

I have been researching these wisps for so long a time. I am fortunate to have met a man who shares my respect for these living libraries.

Wisps do not really life in our world. They are a reflection of something else, something hungry for knowledge. Common wisps will find fascination in watching minor interactions, trees in bloom, grass growing, insects swarming. They are young relative to their kind, though I believe even these wisps are older than any human elder. It takes time to learn to talk to a Wisp.

There are subtle things to be learned. I’m glad I have written more detailed notes. My associate has borrowed my notes for copy, but I don’t worry about them. He sees the value of each minor interaction. It takes patience to speak to wisps. Some brutes may kill them and take their most recent knowledge, most recent trades, but it takes regular interaction to gain any particular piece of knowledge. I believe that the man who cast the Armageddon spell so many long years ago must have been the most patient man to ever live.

My associate says his men will help me finish up my notes before we head back to the Royal Academic circles to prove the value of wisp research. I only hope...
