Sir Corosi,
I noticed that you have
recently published a small
tome on Tomas Savos and
Imperus Noxum.
I felt I might be able to
provide some more insight
on one of your subject
matter. Imperus Noxum
was once known as
Imperus Noxum was once
known as Isaac Norwall.
He changed his name when
he started obsessing over
poison-related spellcraft.
Issac was a very
interesting young man, and
not particularly easy to
work with. I must admit,
however, that he was a
very bright individual. We
studied together for a
while at the Lycaeum. He
always had to be the
best, but always ran
from physical fights
(but usually not before
summoning a creature or
two, and always claiming
victory even if his
creatures fell).
Imperus had a bit of a
problem with leadership
figures as well, especially
those he felt didn't
deserve their jobs.
That's probably why he
went after Tomas. He
needed a new challenge,
wanted to prove his
immortality theory, and
didn't think Tomas
deserved his position of
power. So he threatened
Tomas, confident that he
would either prove his
immortality theory, or
prove his power and
rid the world of an
unworthy power figure.
It was a win-win situation
for him.
Since the Volunteer Guard
force defeated him in
battle, he thought having
them as allies would help
improve his power, I would
imagine. He might have
also seen some people he
felt were worthy of
power that didn't have it,
and might have hopes of
converting them to his
way of thinking so that
they might get that
power.
That is probably why he
has returned to that
force trying to both get
rid of Tomas (which
satisfies his desire to rid
'unworthy' people of
power), and to bring
those whom he felt
deserved power to a
position where they might
consider him an ally.
You might want to look through the Lycaeum and see if you can't find a copy of "Deserving Power". It gives a little bit of insight into how Isaac's mind works (though he does seem to contradict himself at times).
