Dear Friends and Adventurers,
I have lived a great many centuries. From my quiet perch atop a nearby mountain, I have long protected the Gypsies of Compassion. As I’ve aged, my power of prophecy has grown. Alas, I have foreseen that Hercules will, in spite of his great ineptitude, kill me. Mine enemies, the evil ant lions and vile ratmen, will rejoice. They will attack my dear gypsy friends and the many adventurers who visit them.
I can speak freely in this letter because my enemies cannot read. They will know this letter is valuable, but not why, so they shall not destroy it.
By the time this is read, I shall be dead. I hope that you will easily find the egg of my young. It is protected from my enemies by its gold exterior. Perhaps it has even progressed to a cocoon by now. Unlike similar creatures, my young will emerge from its cocoon still a larva. The sound of beautiful music will draw it forth.
I shall copy my
memories onto crystals.
Bring my young to
Honesty and seek my
memories amidst the
wisps. My enemies may
follow my scent to this
location when I hide the
crystals. However, a dear
friend, adept at hiding
amidst danger, has agreed
to stand guardian over
them. She will only unlock
the boxes for the clever
and virtuous. She has
taken a vow of
non-violence and thus will
not appear until the
environment is safe.
I implore those who are reading this to help my young one and reunited her with my memories. Though I can foresee that many of you would do this out of pure Compassion, I shall say that I am leaving a memory crystal that will give my young a prediction with which to reward you. It may help you slay that which the gods made immortal.
