I discussed, in the
Inherence of Truth,
the matter of the
destruction of
perception, by
another's perception. I
warned of the loss of
Truth there, as there
is one sure universal
truth, and that is that
all truths are
universal.
Yet, our perceptions of
this truth differ, and
that these are not
truths.
There are two schools
of thought upon the
subject of the war of
perception. One, is
that each perception
should be cherished,
and not destroyed,
because of the
possibility that that
perception is the
closest to the elusive
truth. The second is
that all perceptions
must be spread over
others, for if none
are, then they are
unique to the bearer,
and therefore, the
truth is limited to but
one mind. After all, is
this not an aspect of
honor? The courage to
defend, and spread
beliefs?
Here, I am afraid, I
can be of little help to
the reader. There is
no easy solution to
allow the safety of
truth, and yet not have
it a secret known to
few.
As in all things, the
best solution, (or such
is my perception of
it) is found between
the extremes.
What can be more noble, than to stand, and defend thy beliefs, and spread the light of them to others? Yet, what can be more cruel than the destruction of a culture? It is the best we can hope to do, to maintain our own standards of ethicality, and morality in the pursuit, and spreading of our perceptions. Teach, but do not become a fanatic. Offer opportunity for adaption, not assimilation.
There shall likely never be a single perception for all, though there is but one truth. Nor do I believe that there ever should be only one perception.
The best I can offer, is that in the pursuit and refinement of perception towards truth, remember the proverb:
There is Truth in the asking, but only falsehood in silence.
