Title: A Spell for Dawn Author: Satharn of the Meer
To be cast by four. Two
meer and two ethereal
diviners would be best, as
purity of heart is
essential for this spell.
Perform the spell when
both moons are waxing or
full. It will have no power
whatsoever if both moons
are new. It should be
cast at the highest point
feasible, such as a roof
or wide balcony.
THE PREPARATIONS
Assemble:
- four candles (white,
green, blue, and purple)
- a large piece of white
silk
- a hazelnut
- a heliotrope seed
- a devil's bane seed
- a tamarisk tree
- a sprig of rosemary
- hyssop
- thyme
- water from Termir
Ilshen
- mirort skitas
Set the candles at the four compass points. Starting with north, the colors are: white, green, blue, and purple. Place the piece of white silk in the middle of the circle. Arrange the hazelnut, heliotrope seed, and devil's bane seed in a triangle in the center of the silk.
THE SACRIFICE
During this entire ritual, all those present should keep the missing person foremost in their thoughts.
The casters stand in a circle around the candles. The one leading the ritual shall stand northmost. Each in turn, going clockwise, shall sing the first verse of a favorite song or recite the first stanza of a beautiful poem to demonstrate the quality and value of his or her voice.
Then those gathered shall recite:
North: We listen to the
birds of the sky,
All: May they sing to us
of all they see.
North: We feel the
caress of the wind,
All: May it whisper its
knowledge to us.
North: We turn our
faces to the moons<
shining over the waters.
All: May they protect us
and the one we seek.
North: We seek the safe
return of
All: Ors of Britannia!
Leader: Our sacrifice is our voices for the duration of this spell.
THE GATHERING
North shall place the tamarisk tree atop the seeds and silk in the center of the circle. East shall place a sprig of rosemary.
South shall place hyssop. West shall place thyme. North shall bind the corners of the silk into a knot.
East shall pour the waters of Ilshen over the bundle
West shall pour the mirort skitas over the bundle.
FOLLOWING THE FIRE
If the spell works, the candle flames will flare in the direction of Ors of Britannia.
The caster nearest each candle shall pick up that candle.
They shall all four walk in the direction the fire points, keeping silent until the lost one is found.
