Title: The Serpent's Tongue Archives, Vol I

Author: Desdemona

July 12, '99
Redlowwinski held a meeting of folks interested in promoting diversity in the lands of Britannia. Judging by the diversity of the group that showed up, the meeting was quite a success. The group decided on a common goal of turning youth away from the scourge of "kewldoodism". Some ideas promoted at the meeting included adding additional town criers to the towns to promote local events and joining together as a guild to promote heroic (or not so heroic) quests. The forum for future discussion has been moved temporarily to the message board at Kazola's Tavern .

I am happy to announce that Ralfus and Jerica Christian are to be wed tonight, at 10:30pm CST. These two are long time friends and residents of the Ranger Station. Wish these two luck and happiness. And somebody bring a chair for my poor brother-in-law, Redlowwinski! He is going to officiate at the wedding. And if you two have children, remember one thing... Desdemona does not baby-sit!

Krista and Redlowwinski became proud parents of twin boys! This makes me an aunt, but it will not mean more responsible behavior on my part. Medic assisted in the birthing, which took place at the healers in the center of Yew. There was quite a turnout of well-wishers, though Elwynn ought to know better than to walk in on such an event. Tsk, brother druid! Join me in welcoming our two youngest citizens, Mark and Jordan, into the lands of Arcodia.

Bedwyr, former High Guard of Balance, has returned to our lands. He has been seen hunting around Kazola's Tavern and the Ranger Station. This crazed and half-naked Celt is up to his typical behavior. He's still on the run from the laws of Lord British. He has been rumored to steal a kilt or two. However, the most impressive feat he has accomplished since his return was meleeing a wisp to death, avoiding all use of magic in the process! Welcome back Bedwyr and please don't fire any more arrows at this humble reporter.

Krista's Ranger Station will be hosting a Lammas Festival at 7:00pm CST, July 31st. Craftspeople are cordially invited to bring their wares to sell on the Ranger Station lawn. Sorry folks, this is not another "naked festival"... Wear your brightest clothing, come enjoy the feasting, music, and clothed dancing! Apricot wine and whisky will be available for a traditional celebration!

A book was discovered on the floor of Kazola's some weeks ago, and it made its way to the Arcodia council. Not knowing what to make of this tome, it was decided to release it to the Arcodian populace in the hopes that they may make some sense of it. The book has been placed in the Town Hall for all to view since shortly after its discovery... Apparently its author isn't quite finished...

Looking greatly distressed with the recent events in the area the Mayor, Dot Warner, officially denounced the BLF movement, and formally declared Marconus Macbeth a "traitor to his own city..."

She went on to say, "While it pains me to do so, I shall be present at the trial tomorrow eve... In support of the Britannian government... While Arcodia ascribes to the concepts that form Balance, and does not consider itself a city under the Crown, we cannot support a violent revolution. May the serpent's forgive him..."

Fellow Sosarians, there is a grave threat in these lands. News has been spreading of the Britannia Liberation Front or BLF. While this group has been swallowed up by the SMD, here is some background on these people that have invaded our fair lands.

The BLF was formed with the purpose to overthrow the governments of Lord British. According to the former leader of the BLF, Dingo, Lord British is not fit to rule because he is always absent from the lands unless there is glory or fame to steal from those who have earned it and his laws do not protect people who defend their friends. Dingo tells this reporter the BLF had intended to set up a government where all people had say in the laws, something called a democracy.

To further their ends, the BLF attacked the Yew Militia in Arcodia territory, just southeast of the Farmhouse on our Western borders. The battles between the two groups raged across both Yew and Arcodia, with fights breaking out at both Kazola’s tavern and the Abbey. Friend fought friend at this battle and the casualties were many. Not the least of the victims of this battle were trust and faith between friends. Towards the end of the bloody battle, Marconus Macbeth was taken into custody by the Yew Militia and their allies.

At Marconus’ trial Saturday evening, his defender Redlowwinski attempted to convince the court that there was some doubt Marconus was leading the attack and that he wasn’t even truly a citizen of Brittania and didn’t fall under the laws of this land. This defense was unsuccessful, and Marconus was sentenced to death. This trial marked the end of the BLF, as well. Macbeth’s co-leader of the rebellion showed up to free him with the aid of his new guild, the SMD. This group has allied itself with the Blood Rock Clan orcs and the intelligent skeletons that have recently appeared in our lands.

Marconus is still being held and apparently mind-controlled by Mondain. A rescue attempt by several members of the Order of St. Mark and Winter Sinclair was spectacularly unsuccessful. In the interview that Dingo granted this reporter, he stated he knew nothing about the mind-control of Marconus. He did say that SMD’s goals were to completely govern all of Brittania in the the name of Mordain. The group claims to have taken over Vesper, Minoc, Moonglow, Jhelom, Nu’jelm, Serpent’s Hold, Occlo, and Magicina. Cove has been claimed, but given over to the Blood Rock clan of orcs. Yew (which includes Arcodia, according to Dingo) and Skara Brae have been given a week of time to consider submitting to Mordain or they too will be invaded.
