Title: A Dark Path

Author: Vasortlem

I speak now of the building of my great observatory. This long hallway is both watchtower and doorway to the Ethereal Void. I only wish I could claim credit entirely for its construction.

The stonework is my brothers, and while the spells of control and warding are mine, I was fortunate to have notes from a gargoyle named Templebuilder. The name is unusual since he is not a gargoyle of Ter Mur. His blood is spoiled, and his line banished. I found notes of his treachery in the Principia. He was considered one of the greatest demons, an abomination in name only since his blood was gargoyle. He was granted this honor by his masters after building the great doorway in their lost fiery temple. I had to invoke his name in order to build my own path to the Void.

That temple, as my observatory, were built on a place where there was already a tear between the Void and Sosaria. Their temple breached the veil with blood and death, while mine has a similar cause, being near the Fault of Lithos.

Templebuilder was able to force this narrow doorway open with blackrock shards until entire armies could pass through it. Even with the power of the Fault, my doorway is much smaller. The doorway was kept open with some great magic I do not understand. The temple building eventually becomes part of the mesh between worlds, nearly indestructible by normal means. It remains weak against blackrock, though it is important that weapons of this material strike true. Mistakes will result in the doorway getting larger, not smaller for a time.
