Humility, like all
virtue, is a balance.
Of particular interest,
is the seeming conflict
between Humility,
and Honesty. Were I to
ask a man, "Are ye the
greatest warrior?"
then the humble soul,
of course, would
answer "no." Yet,
what if the questioned
truly is the greatest
warrior? What then?
A trap that all too many fall into (myself included) is the pursuit of Humility over Honesty. Any way you look at it, this is a lie. Deceit.
So, what to do? How can one demonstrate both virtues, if in some circumstances, they contradict?
In my belief, they do not contradict. Simply denying the truth, is not humility. The key, is in recognizing the truth, but not taking pride in it.
