Bio:
The Bane Chosen are vile humans who work alongside the Demon Conclave, in the service of the vile demon lord known as Virtuebane (or VirtueBane, or Virtue Bane).
They first appeared north of Papua, fighting what they claimed was a private war against the evil snake-men known as Ophidians. The Bane Chosen claimed that they were seeking to avenge the deaths of the War of the Zenith Scion. They made it clear, however, that they also disapproved of other "uncivilized races." They rode dragons from the Abyss, known as Bane Dragons, which ate a food made from Blackrock. They were successful in recruiting many Britannians to their cause. And, while any good Britannian (or even most bad ones) would be hard-pressed to weep for the murderous Ophidians ("always at war with someone," as Queen Dawn is reputed to have put it), the Bane Chosen were not subtle in their intent to move beyond the Ophidians.
Sadly, the Bane Chosen were true to their word. They moved to Ilshenar, near the Spirituality Shrine, where they encouraged Britannians to attack and engaged in skirmishes with the Meer who had taken up residence in the village of Lakeshire. The Bane Chosen's pretext for this was the "Plague of Despair" unwittingly unleashed on Yew by the Meer many years ago. (It should be noted that the Meer were able to end that plague, and the last vestiges of it were cleaned up by the Elves of Heartwood some years later.)
From there, as they were investigated more and more by the government of Britannia, the depths of their evil became clearer. They were, in fact, the "Chosen" of the foul demon lord Virtuebane. (While Britannians typically referred to them as the "Bane," they consistently referred to themselves as "the Chosen.")
After Ilshenar, they more-or-less revealed their true natures through a series of nakedly aggressive acts. They seduced the Queen's husband, Ors, into their ranks and are currently holding him hostage. They, alongside the Demon Conclave's forces, occupied Magincia Island. They alternately attacked and sought to starve out the Meer, allies of Britannia. They were interrupted in the act of various illegal (and might I add untaxed) weapons shipments. They consorted with pirates and other conventional criminals as well as with demons. All in all they were not subtle as to which side they were on.
The position has been advanced that the Bane Chosen's actions were incurred by Britannian actions, but this cannot possibly be supported by the evidence. Most of what is related above occurred BEFORE the Bane's naked aggression against Britannia, and sadly as many Britannians ASSISTED the Bane Chosen (especially against the Ophidians and even against the Meer to a lesser degree), as fought against them. The proposition, thus, cannot withstand any kind of serious scrutiny.
