Title: Last Will & Testament

Author: Lord Kendal

I, ECGWEARD BYRTHFERT KENDAL, of the City of Britain, Britannia, being in good health and perfect mind, do hereby revoke all Wills and Codicils heretofore made by me and do hereby make, publish, and declare this my Last Will and Testament in the form and manner as follows:

ARTICLE I

I appoint LORD BEAUCHAMP, of Britain, to be the Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, and I direct that no bond be required of him as Executor. If LORD BEAUCHAMP shall not survive me or for any reason shall not serve as Executor, or, having qualified, shall die or resign, I appoint my eldest son, BYRTHFERT ECGWEARD KENDAL to be the Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, and I direct that no bond be required for him as executor.

ARTICLE II

I direct that all my just debts be paid out of the assets of my estate as soon as practicable after my death.

ARTICLE III

I give, bequeath, and devise to my heir and eldest son, BYRTHFERT ECGWEARD KENDAL, if he shall be living at the time of my death or, if he pre-deceases me, to the senior heir(ess) of the line, all my lands and tenements, livestock and crops, goods and chattels that do not pass by entail.

I give and bequeath to my second son, THOMAS ECGWEARD KENDAL, if he shall be living at the time of my death or, if he pre-deceases me, to his issue per stirpes, the amount of Five-Million Gold.

I have made no provision in this my Will for my third son, CHARLES ECGWEARD KENDAL. He has always been a disappointment to me and unworthy of my name. Charles can go live like the peasants of whom he is so fond.

ARTICLE IV

I give and bequeath to FINCH GHILLIE, gamekeeper of my country estate, if he is in service to me at the time of my death, the amount of Fifty Thousand Gold.

I give and bequeath to PHYLLIS COOK, my chef, if she is in service to me at the time of my death, the amount of Thirty Thousand Gold.

I give and bequeath to HARRY WITHERS, my stablemaster, if he is in service to me at the time of my death, the amount of Ten Thousand Gold and a horse, from my stables, of his choice.

I have made no provision in this my Will for my guards, because I have already done so during my lifetime. Those who were meant to guard my life shall not profit by my death.

ARTICLE V

I give and bequeath to THE MONKS OF EMPATH ABBEY the amount of Ten Thousand Gold, to ensure my proper burial.

ARTICLE VI

I give, bequeath, and devise all the residue and remainder of my property and estate of every nature and wheresoever situated, hereinafter referred to as my residuary estate, to BYRTHFERT ECGWEARD KENDAL, if he shall be living at the time of my death or, if he pre-deceases me, to the senior heir(ess) of the line.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal.

[Kendal seal] {signed} Ecgweard Byrthfert Kendal, Lord Kendal
