Title: Foreign Grapes

Author: Marcella the Monk

I have collected these snippets from research in hundreds of travelogues, journals, diaries. The are mentions of unusual grapes in Ilshenar, Tokuno, and Malas.

__Ilshenar__

1. "We struggled up the glacier and were rewarded with the astonishing discovery of a gravevine! The sweet grapes, as blue as our fingers, refreshed us more than a banquet would have."

2. "I'm still amazed that I won a duel against a Juka Lord! They provisioned me well and I was on my way. I walked into the mountains. I saw the strangest creature; I cannot say whether it was a serpent or a dragon. Perhaps it was a combination of the two, like the man-horses. It led me to vines thick with turquoise grapes. I offered it some of the Juka food to return the gift and it seemed pleased."

3. "...found an oasis and refreshed ourselves before venturing forth to meet the gargoyles. We feasted like royalty on coconuts, dates, odd grapes, and red bananas."

4. "We were starving, thirsty, and lost. A golden hind appeared and led us to a where fresh, clean water bubbled out of the ground. Fruit grew around it, fed by it and the same hue. It then led us to the outskirts of Lakeshire."

5. "...the cyclopses farm, to some extent. Their crops are mundane except for grapes the color of the sky..."

__Tokuno__

6. "For breakfast, the innkeeper brought us rice and a piece of fruit she'd grown herself, hydroponically. She said it was a grape, but it was huge, orange, and tasted of fire!"

7. "Where the lava is its coolest, we saw an unusual fruit. It seemed to thrive on the heat. We wanted to try it, but the tour guide said if we stayed to taste the grapes we might have the good fortune of meeting the blessed Mt. Sho Pig and thus we should hurry away. It seems my understanding of the language is not coming along as well as I'd hoped."

8. "...between the meditation shrine and the woods, a small maze of grasses and cherry trees, with a hydroponic garden of orange grapes at the edge..."

9. "...marsh cranes eat fire fruit..."

__Malas__

10. "Lost south of the horrible ancient dungeon, I almost cried when I found the black grapes in the shadow of a mountain at the edge of the Void."

11. "Following the minotaurs I was studying west from their home, I found them collecting the most unusual grapes."

12. "After a hard days work searching the pyramid, we would return to our camp at the water's edge. Some of the younger members of our party discovered some tasty local fruits that made the dry heat of the desert bearable."

13. "Our trip to Grimswind Ruins was not profitable. After hours digging up the box, we opened it to discover it contained nothing but ancient seeds. The leader of the treasure hunt angrily tossed the broken box back into the hole."

14. "Clearing ground for the new museum building on the Crumbling Continent is progressing well. We had to burn out a lot of local vegetation, including some rather odd fruit."

15. "During my days on the trade route between Luna and Umbra, I became close friends with several tribes of orcs. They called me the "Shiniz Humie" and shared some of their klompin' cidur. It is apparently made from a black fruit found in the broken mountains nearby."
