Title: Advocates of Balance

There was a time when some of us were truly eternal, tied to the Great Forest, infinite in its beauty and majesty. We are only shadows of that now. Our Forest is ancient ash.

There was a time when all Meer were united in our vengeance against those responsible. Together, we cast a great inferno to destroy our enemies and restore balance to the world. Our just hand was stopped by the foul voice that led the Juka. What must be done had been done, only to have never been.

All but one of us went to sleep with dreams of a great reckoning against the Juka. Our dreams were betrayed by the waking world and the sleepless sentinel Adranath. Adranath grew sentimental and weak in the millennia that passed. When the Juka returned in time, he had abandoned a plan of mutual destruction in favor of a united war between the Meer and the lesser creatures that had populated our lands. These humans and gargoyles were neither noble nor powerful.

Many of us chose not to wake up to Adranath's call. We would sleep and wait for a day we knew would come: the day of our vengeance. We knew one day that the Juka people would face disaster, and we could be there to tip the scales toward balance. We would restore the only balance available to us: the complete destruction of the Juka.
