In the context of the "play" she was the former fiance of Shamino, unintentionally abandoned by Shamino when the sundering of Mondain's Gem of Immortality sundered the world. She died of a broken heart as lizardmen attacked her family.
The actress, whose name I do not know, was extremely convincing. And, thus, the character known as Beatrix is quite dead, and the actress who played her is quite alive, so far as I know.
