Title: The Silver Golem

Author: Ng

I swung my silver blade and it cleaved into the shadow horror. The blade shattered into millions of icy splinters, as did the horror. My forarm turned a pale grey color, the color of death. Now I had no swordarm. All around me I heard the screams of dying men and horrors. The pot of silver was boiling about 10 feet away from me. Another soldier was dipping a stick in it, as he was out of swords. Silver was the only thing that could kill these awful creatures. A horror advanced on me, pushing me toward the vat of silver. I had an idea. I dipped my arm into the molten metal, expecting to be seared. I felt nothing as my dead arm slid into the pot. Then I swung my arm into the horror, expecting my arm to shatter along with the monster. To my surprise, the monster broke into a million peices, but instead of making my arm as cold as the space between stars, it warmed. I felt my fingers start to move. My arm was made of living silver!

I scooped up globs of the silver and lobbed them at the horrors, but there were still too many. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw one rush at me. I raised my arm just as it struck. It shattered, but the force of its blow sent me careening backward. I landed in the caulron, and expected to die. But I did not. I was submerged into the bubbling metal, and was transfromed. Every part of me became shining metal. I rose from the pot, as a pheonix rises from its ashes. I looked around the battlefield. I had been in the pot longer than I had thought. All my comrades were slain. Horrors were poking about, looking for surviors. I expected anger to sear through my veins, hate to boil my blood, greif to cloud my mind, but nothing happened. I slowly steped out of the pot and walked up to a horror. Now it was the one to cower in terror. I touched it, and it broke like a fragile crystal. Before I knew it, all the horrors were gone.

I looked about the battlefield. It was cut in between 2 mountains, a small grove, if you will. Everywhere was death. Horror pieces, dead soldiers. I couldn't believe that I had no feelings. I began to think. There was nothing I wanted to do, so I took my only refuge from the horror of this place. I closed my eyes, and I stood. I was next to a tree. I don't know how long I stood there for. I remember a loud thwaking sound. I traied to open my eyes, but I could not. Then I feld a blade striking aganst my chest. I heard muffled voices.

"Look at that! Silver inside the tree!"

Then I realized, the tree had grown and encompassed me. I burst out of my sylvan prison, much the the chagrin of the old man and his friend. I ignored their shouts, and began to walk away. I walked untill I grew weary. I hove no idea how long that was. I saw a river. A beautiful river. I walked into it, and started walking underneath the waters. I walked out to the ocean, and still I pressed on. Then I saw it. A magnificent structure. It was a huge city, made of coral. It moved me. For the first time in centuries, I felt. I walked into the city, and saw odd, beautiful people. I walked into the center of the city, and saw a pedestal. I walked up to the pedestal. A man asked me who I was, and what I was doing in their new city. I did not reply. I simply told him my name.

"Atlantis"

Then came the screams. I ran to the place where they came from, then I saw them. The horrors. Finally, anger seared my soul. In a blind rage of fury, I killed all of them. Weary of the fighting, I walked back to the center of the city. The same man came up to me.

"You saved us! You saved us all!" I did not reply, I simply stodd on the pedestal, and watched. A huge party was held, and at the end of the party, the decided on the city's new name. Named after its savior: Atlantis.
