New page

'''Title: The Lady Rune '''

'''Author: Krimzon '''

There was a time long
ago when I came upon the
face of true beauty. I
was just a lad of 25
then. I was walking
through the deep forests
of Britannia between
Trinsic and Britain when
suddenly I was set upon
by 3 fearsome creatures,
trolls they were and a
mite angry, but then,
have you ever met a
troll who wasn't angry?
I quickly drew my sword
and held my shield high
to meet the oncoming
rush, it was truly a
fierce battle raging for
what seemed hours, the
blood flowed freely and I
cannot be sure whether
more of mine own
coloured the ground then
of theirs. Two trolls I
had slain before the third
finally landed a Mortal
blow, thrusting his crude
spear through my fine
mail until the point
protruded from my back.
Death was upon me but
with a final oath to
Crom I threw myself
farther upon the spear
so that I could slam my
sword deep into the
monsters heart.
The surprised look on its
gruesome visage and the
sound of its last breath
escaping through a gurgle
of blood was comforting
in that I knew I would
soon be joining him in
the depths of the Abyss.
As I lay back it takes all
my remaining strength to
pull the spear from my
vitals. With that done I
settled back and accepted
my fate, finally an end
to the misery and
suffering of this
existance called life.

As the last vestages of
conciousness began to
leave my mind, suddenly a
vision appeared before me
that I will remember to
the end of my days.
First a searing light
that forced me to close
my eyes tightly. Then a
feeing of peace and
Tranquility such that I
have never felt before
nor am destined to ever
feel again. When I opened
my eyes again I beheld
an image of such
unfathomable beauty that
I truly felt I had
somehow missed the
Abyss and landed in Val
Halla instead, for before
me stood a Lady whos
very beauty made me
lower my head in respect.
Her hair a flaming shade
of crimson cascading
about her shoulders, her
eyes sparkling and seeming
to change colours in the
light and a smile that
truly warmed my cold
soul. Then she spoke and
it was all that I had
imagined the voice of a
goddess would sound with
the melodious tones
carressing my weary mind
like delicate chimes in a
gentle breeze, her words
I will never forget as she
said to me "Lord Krimzon,
it is not your time to
die for your heart is
true and there are many
in this world who still
need your help" and with
that she laid her hands
upon me and all my pain
seemed to vanish as I
watched the ghastly hole
in my abdomen close.
Then she put her hand
across my forehead and
said "Now you must sleep,
but fear not for I shall
watch over you and gaurd
you from any harm" and
with that I fell into the
deepest most untroubled
sleep I have ever felt,
the nightmares of havoc
and tragedy did not come
to me this night for I
truly felt comforted by
her presence.

When I awoke I wondered if it
was indeed a dream but
the hole in my armour
was still there yet I was
alive. Who, who could
have healed me, I
wondered aloud, then like
a whisper upon the
breeze I heard her
enchanting voice for the
last time, it said, "I am
Rune, The Lady of the
Forest, go now Krimzon
for you are needed
elsewhere" and with that
I was suddenly teleported into Britain and then a
feeling of such loss and
lonliness overtook me,
"NO!" I screamed "Do not
leave me for I am so
alone!" but the only
response was the startled
expressions of the people
of Britain looking upon
me with pity "Aye the
poor wretch has lost his
mind, teh teh" I heard
the people mumble. With
that I gathered myself up
and walked aimlessly into
the crowd vowing that I
would come to the aid of
the helpless as the Lady
of my dreams had asked.
Such has been my life
since, Crusader of
Justice, Voice of the
voiceless. Many times
have I been back to that
forest and although I feel
her essence she never
again appeared to me...
that was 30 years ago
and although I have
dedicated my life to the
pursuit of justice and to
once again finding my
true love, yes, I say true
love even though I had
only met her once, I have
yet to find her.

Now I await the welcome
embrace of death which
will surely unite me once
again with the only true
love I have ever known,
the embrace of

The Lady Rune.....
