'Twas a simple
beginning... he studied
and practiced
attempting to learn a
trade which we
provide for him.
Tailoring, which his
father had attempted
to teach him, was a
joyless activity for
Oberon. He could
make some of the
finest clothes in
Vesper, but longed for
something else.
Taking the advice
of his father, Bane,
Oberon focussed on
earning gold enogh to
build himself a castle.
This, he knew, would
never come to pass,
for a tailor would
work his whole life to
afford such a home.
However, in his old
age, he could not enjoy
it. Nor did he want
this. For years he
toiled and began to
focus his attention on
the gathering of hides
and wool. This
meanial task afforded
him the chance to
escape Vesper for a
little while and enjoy
a small piece of
freedom.

On one such outing,
Oberon encountered a
creature which he
had become use to
slaying, the mongbat.
It was neccesary to rid
the world of the
creatures in order for
the cattle to thrive.
However, after
Oberon had cleaved the
monster and skinned
it for hides, he came
upon a necklace around
the neck of the beast.
To him, this
suggested a heinous
kidnapping of a
beautiful maiden by a
raucous pack of the
monsters. He set out
at once to find the
captured Lady (for
her fame grew loftier
in his mind as his
travels into the forest
continued).

After a day's
journey, he came
upon what he
felt was the gang
which had kidnapped
his princess.
All that was left
was for him to slay
the five mongbats and
ten orcs to retrieve
her. Now, Oberon
had never encoutered
an Orc before, but, he
felt, how tough could
they be.
He threw himself
into battle, ever ready
to wade in the blood of
his enemies (in the
hopes of saving the
kidnapped Queen).
His battle cry
echoed through the
trees, and was met
with a harsh reply,
"Run you fool!"

At first Oberon did
not head the
suggestion and forged
ahead. His run was
halted by a fist to his
abdomen. Falling
towards the ground he
realized his fatal
error, which would
have the Orcs
muching on his thighs
for breakfast. He
was weak, slow, and
knew very little about
tactics. However,
before he hit the
ground, he was
grabbed and thrown
into a nearby shrub.
When he turned to
see the Orc who
threw him, he was
surprised to see only a
woman brandishing a
sword spattered with
black blood.

"Get gone, fool!" she
hollered. After a
moments hesitation,
worry for her
saftey, he followed
her plan. He ran.
Turning back once,
before plunging into
the saftey of the trees
he saw her blade
flash and plunge into
the chest of an
attacking orc. Facing
forward again he
rushed headlong into
the depths of the
forest.

Before he had run
far, he heard her
screams from behind
him. She had fallen
and there was nothing
he could do. Perhaps
his blundering had
caused her fate. He
ran on with the
screams echoing
through his head and
the sound of his feet
being resounded by
the forest. Oberon
ran until her death
throes ceased their
repeating in his mind.
And, perhaps led
there by some
unknown power, he
had come to Empath
Abbey. There he was
led onto a new path by
a Lucas Eventide
