New page

'''Title: Medical Journals, Volume 3'''

'''Author: Dr. Greg Ashcroft'''

Her lifeless, and
bloodless form
was found,
hanging near
decapitated in the
front hall of the
House. The King
has issued a
bounty on the
Fallen Son of
Novelle's Head. I
can't help but
feel the least bit
responsible.

Book 21, Part 10,

After a
nation-wide
search, the young
Garet Novelle has
been found.
Cradled in the
arms of his
dead-great-great-gra
ndmother at her
funeral,
apparently
abandoned by the
monster that was
his father. I do
hope the child is
not scarred
emotionally, but
he is but a few
years old now,
and not too aware
of the turn of
recent events.

Book 22, Part 8,

As I grow
steadily older,
my life grows
more hectic.
Another year
past, another
startling
discovery. I have
found Jenson
Novelle. Or what
remains of him. I
was heading
steadily
northward
through the
alleyways of
Britain one eve,
when I spotted a
hunched over
figure, attacking
some homeless
lady. I crept
closer, to see
what might be
happening, when
the attacker spun
about and leaped
at me. I cringed in
fear, and let mine
last thoughts be
of the happiness
I brought people,
when mine
assailant did stop
in mid air.
Apparently, the
lag demon I had
fought against
for so long, had
saved my life.
Atleast briefly.
For I too was
caught. But
slowly, my body
functions
quickened, and in
a burst of
adrenaline, I shot
forth, out from
beneath the beast
that used to be
Jenson Novelle's
shadow. I
happened to have
a prototype for
my new
'Anti-Lag' elixir,
which I
immediately
quaffed, it being
my last hope. Lo
and behold, I
could run. I
hadn't felt so
invigorated in
years. While the
While the
creature of the
night sat
suspended in
mid-air. I knew I
should have tried
to help him, or
the homeless
woman bleeding to
death at the
moment, but
instead I ran off
to safety. I still
suffer from
nightmares, but
apparently, my
prototype was a
success. I am
completely
immune to the
affects of the
nefarious and
troublesome 'Lag
Deamon'.

Book 22, Part 14,

So, Jenson
Novelle was
cured by my
potion from so
long ago. But he is
now a vampire. A
creature of the
night. I do wonder
if any of my
elixirs will ever
not have a
negative side
effect. For
while I am
presently free
from the effects
of 'Lag', I am
completely unable
to recall the
formula. And
now Aisleigh has
gone somewhat
mad. Her sister,
Julia, has taken
the children in,
and does show
much signs of
love for them, but
I fear they cannot
live here. I, still
indebted to their
family, even
more so due to
what Jenson did,
have been asked
to take them to an
undisclosed
location. There
they shall grow
up, free, and
Julia and Kennith
shall start their
new lives, as
artisans and
tinkers. So,
tomorrow
morning, myself,
Julia, Kennith
her husband, and
the two toddlers
head off for the
Crossroads, and
from there...

Book 30, Part 10,

It has been half a year
since I have left
Britain. I have not
written the tale
of what occurred
at the Crossroads,
that fateful day,
but old
nightmares once
again taunt me,
and I fear Jenson
Novelle is still
haunting these,
parts. So I write.
We left Britain,
heading towards
the Crossroads,
and then to
Vesper, for a
ship which
would take us to
Occlo. But we
never made it. At
the Crossroads,
we were set upon
by a band of orcs,
and orc Lords. I
fought as bravely
as I could, as did
Kennith, while
the children and
Julia escaped, but
alas...

I fear Kennith is
dead. He was
taken, kicking
and screaming
into the fray, and
I would have
jumped into it to
save him, when I
saw young Garet
run up to save his
father. I grabbed
the boy, and
proceeded to run.
I searched for
his new mother,
but to no avail.

Finally, we were
chased off by
some more orcs,
and headed to
Minoc. An old
friend of mine,
Cassius Jax, took
us in, while I
searched for the
boy's mother and
sister. Finally,
the nightmares
started again, and
I knew Jenson
was close. I have
left Garet in the
Jaxes' care,
knowing they
always wanted
children of their
own, but never
could have them.

Book 31, Part 1,

I was walking to
mine home in the
hills near Lake
Blackthorn, when
I noticed I was
being followed. I
quickly spun
about and drew
forth a small
medallion hung
around my neck,
but not before the
creature behind
me put a massive
hand around my
neck. I saw what
had once been
Jenson Novelle,
but was now a
monster. His
long, curved
fangs glistened in
the moonlight,
and his eyes,
now yellow, like
a cat's, glimmered
with hunger. He
asked me where
his children
were, screamed
at me to tell him,
and even reduced
himself to
begging, but I
held true to my
word to protect
that family.
Finally, the
vampire who was
once Jenson
Novelle, broke
down into tears
and allowed my
timely escape. It's
been a week, and
the nightmares
have stopped, so I
assume he has
left me alone.
For the time
being.

<continued in Medical
Journals 4>
