New page

'''Title: Medical Journals, Volume 2'''

'''Author: Dr. Greg Ashcroft'''

I am nearly
into mine
seventh
decade. And
here I am
running
around with a
pair of
love-struck,
wet-behind-the-ear
s,
well-to-do's
who don't
know the
first thing
about
adventuring
and hunting
monsters. I
fear these
two shall be
the end of me
yet.
Secondly, I
have signed
on as the
family
physician
for the House
O'Wyn'Er.
The current
Patron,
Jonithin
O'Wyn'Er,
and his wife
Tasha are
both friends
of Lucius,
and he said
they could
use the aid.
Unfortunately,
their son
Kethan is
quite
rebellious
and always
getting into
fights and
the like.
Thrice now I
have had to
beat off the
demon guards
just to keep
them from
slaying the
boy. I don't
even want to
know what
he shall be as
a grownup.
Luckily, he
is about to be
married to
Natalia, some
lesser noble's
daughter
from
Trinsic.
But progress on my
potion is nigh, and in
fact, I think I may
have already got a test
pattern, which is
working, slowly but
surely.

Book 18, Part 10,

Myself, Aisleigh
and Jenson were
returning from a
hike into the
mountains to the
North, when we
stopped at the
crossroad's outpost
to ask for any sign
of murderous
activities and the
like. Apparently
the 'wonderful
guards that Lord
British has sent
countrywide' were
keeping the peace,
and no criminals
were in the area. I
was a bit
downtrodden to
hear what had
become of my
elixir, but was
quite alarmed
when Aisleigh
screamed out in
pain. I ran to her
as fast as my
seventy-one year
old legs could carry
me, and found her
fast in labor. I
asked where
Jenson was, but he
was nowhere to be
found and she
could not stop
screaming to
answer me. So I set
forth doing mine
duties, and helped
the woman in all
the ways I knew
how. Eventually,
she was
comfortable and
able to speak and
told me Jenson was
off trying to
prevent some
nearby orc lords
from harming her.
I sent one of the
local peasant girls
off to find him,
and continued with
my work. About an
hour later, the two
came back, bloodied
and wounded, but
alive. Jenson
immediately went
to his wife's side,
and promptly
passed out.
An hour later,
they were parents.
They had two
beautiful children,
a boy and a girl.
They had not
expected this, but
that is not
surprising. Twins
are a rare thing
indeed these days,
but they were
happy, and the
children were
well. They
promptly took a
gate back to Britain
to be properly
rested, while I
stayed behind to
revel in the joyous
occasion. I was
happier than I had
been in years. I
later bought a
horse from a
nearby farmer,
and headed on
home.

Book 19, Part 3,

Both of the
children fare well,
as does their
mother, but their
father is not I
fear. He did come
to me the other
night, begging for
something that
might help him
sleep. I did meet
his request, but
noticed that some
of the injuries he
had sustained in
the fight with the
orc lords were not
healing properly. I
pulled forth an
experimental
formula in hopes
of healing his
wounds, both
physical and
emotional. It did
quite an amazing
job on his wounds,
and he seemed
heartier already,
but still something
seemed wrong.
Nevertheless he
bid adieu, and
headed off for his
family's home.

Book 19, Part 7,

As I had suspected
so long ago, the
affects of a
certain
experimental
healing potion I
had, has taken its
toll on Jenson
Novelle. He has not
slept in a week. He
continues to grow
thinner and
thinner. Aisleigh
came to me the
other day, saying
he threatened her,
and the children
(Note to self: Must
discover children's
names. 'Twould be
a bit more polite to
refer to them by
name instead of
'the lil' buggers'). I
have put some
more time into
researching what
might have gone
wrong with the
medicine, but my
time is still largely
split by the 'Lag
Fever Antidote'.

Book 19, Part 8,

I write this, much
relieved.
Apparently
whatever
tumultuous
effects my
medicine had on
him, Jenson
Novelle has
returned to his
normal self. I am
relieved to say the
least, as I now have
a full coffer to
work with, have no
further
distractions, and
am able to complete
my last few
projects in peace.

Book 21, Part 6,

The last year has
been hectic to say
the least. Jenson
Novelle is missing.
His
great-grandmother-in
-law, the matron
of House Novelle,
dead. Aisleigh,
frantic. And their
son, also missing.
'Twas a strange
turn of events
indeed, when the
Lord's Men had to
invade House
Novelle, and
physically remove
the hysteric
woman whose baby
I had delivered
what seemed to be
so long ago. The
whole city was
searched, top and
bottom, but neither
of the two Novelle
males have been
found.

Apparently,
Jenson crept out of
bed one night, and
went to the room of
his wife's
great-grandmother,
and the Matron
mother of his
House. There he
proceeded to
massacre the old
woman.

<continued in
Medical Journals 3>
