I write of the fate of
my brother, one of the
great gargoyle lords who
turned from Singularity
toward the Cult Ignavus
Hythlothe.

He was never a strong
fighter, but his magic
was without peer. He
crafted many great
magical things, including
the Altar of Three
Points at the center of
the Shrine of Singularity.
It broke my heart the
day he chose to challenge
me to rule. I knew that I
would defeat him, but I
also knew he would never
forgive me.

He didn't. He stormed
into the Temple of
Singularity and smashed
the Altar of Three
Points. He cast a terrible
spell and summoned two
demonic creatures. One
was named UroBul, the
Blood of Conflict. The
other was a draconic
creature named AtoDit,
the Gnawing afterlife.

In the ruins, he cast
aside his old name
forever, taking a demonic
name XabAlm, "he who
burns love."

He went to war with Ter
Mur and lost. He was
cast down a great tunnel
into Ignavus Hythlothe.
Those he had made a
pact with went with him,
not as his allies, but as
his jailers. AtoDit
consumed my brother,
giving him a new life as
a wretched creature, and
UroBul filled his veins
with demonic blood,
burning him and his
fellows forever.

They are the An-Kal-Lem,
the banished.<br>
