I write this as a primer
for those who wish to
remove blight and
corruption spells. I give a
warning that the greatest
care must be taken.

These are the worst sort
of spells, changing the
very nature of a thing
toward evil. When dealing
with such spells, I am
remind of a quote:

"Whoever fights monsters
should see to it that in
the process he does not
become a monster. And if
you gaze long enough into
an abyss, the abyss will
gaze back into you."

To fight such magic, you
must never stray, never
get distracted, never
forget the forces you
fight against.

I will start with the
basics. Corruption spells,
of which Necromancy is a
subset, tap into the black
bile or Melancholia of the
caster. Melancholia is a
cold and dry humor
associated with earth,
death, and autumn.

To fight such magic
requires purifying magic
associated with Sanguis
or blood. Sanguis is the
opposite of Melancholia,
warm and moist,
associated with life, the
winds, and the spring. It
is said to be the basis
for the magic of
Chivalry, Spellweaving, and
an ancient disicipline called
Theurgy.

Before you attempt to
simply pour some blood on
your problem, keep in
mind that spilled blood
very quickly stops being
tied with life and healing.
Most forms of "blood"
magic harm caster and
sacrifice alike and should
never be employed to
undo corruption magic. It
would be like a fevered
man drinking from a
festering swamp. The
properties of courage,
love, and hope are more
helpful to purifying magic
than needless cutting.
