New page

'''Title: On Elementals'''

'''Author: Jeram the Wise'''

Most things are possible
with magic. Form and
function are trivial with
magic. Magic can also add
life to things, though the
exact nature of this
isn’t understood. Magic
becomes the glue that
binds, the skin that holds,
the heart that beats.
This is not a natural
process, so the cycle of
life is disrupted.

Necromancy’s undead are
certain one example of
magic breaking the balance
between life and death.
Another example is more
appropriate here, the
elemental. Elementals are
forms given life by magic:
fire, earth, air, and
water, but they take
even stranger forms,
binding together other
materials into horrible
forms: blood, poison, acid,
sand, and crystal.

A malevolence is as
simple as an elemental of
hatred, an elemental of
the energies associated
with evil actions. However,
they are much more. They
are more nebulous than
their elemental cousins
are, since their material
is so ethereal. To act in
this world, they are
often connected to other
elements, fire and shadow
being most appropriate. It
may be possible to
connect it to other
things, such as disease or
poison.

The malevolence is a
dangerous form of magic.
Usually, it is the
byproduct of dark
elemental magics, meaning
its substance is minor
and its power trivial. It
is possible that such a
malevolence could be
confused with a ghostly
poltergeist, since both
share similar destructive
tendencies. One could
create a more powerful
malevolence directly if one
wished, but I warn any
against such an act. To
create such a creature is
to give great power to
pure hatred, pure malice,
something without shape
and without the limits of
normal evil creatures such
as liches.
