Vasarglem is, or more accurately was and hopefully may be again, a great gargoyle silversmith of Ter Mur, despite his encroaching blindness. He had the misfortune, however, of having something needed by the Demon Conclave and its foul General, Buldur. Specifically, the Breath of Air, an aspect of Stratos, the elemental Titan of Air. At the behest of Buldur, Vasarglem was kidnapped and tortured by Vraalbaltem, a particularly foul and vile member of An-Kal-Lem, a cult and gargoyle sub-race, foul, evil, vile traitors to the gargoyle way.

Vasarglem survived the assaults, thanks in large part to the intervention of Queen Dawn's Secret Service, but Vraalbaltem managed to escape with the Breath of Stratos.

At the time of writing, Vasarglem remains in a catatonic state, either resulting from his tortures or from having the Breath of Stratos ripped from him, or both. His apprentice, Betimarglem, told the Secret Service he would inform them if Vasarglem's condition changed.
