Kahler was a mage who proved to be of enormous help to Magnus Grey's Royal Spies (also known as Her Majesty's Secret Service). First, he came to their attention in an attempt to free the spirit of a young girl named Sara, imprisoned by a foul mage as a living, eternally tortured component of a a statue called the True Shrieking Grotesque, the all-too-aptly named creation of a foul mage who had also imprisoned Queen Dawn.<br />
<br />
Later, he player a critical role in helping the Royal Spies track down the Cult of Styx. Among other inventions, he created a sextant which would nightly reveal the location of the Cult, so that their hideout could be invaded and smashed, and thus their plans disrupted.<br />
<br />
Sadly, however, he met his end at the hands of that very Cult. They first imprisoned him and brainwashed him to their side, thus making an enemy out of this great and humble man. Finally, when the Spies caught up with him and tried to bring him back, they killed him, and "Kahler's Shadow," a manifestation of the evil self the Cult had created, had to be slain.<br />
<br />
Along with Clainin, he shall be long-remembered for his service. May his soul be judged for what he was when he was in control of himself, and not for the foul manifestation he was forced, quite against his will, to become.<br />
