In monarchies, sometimes siblings of the rulers are a problem. Sometimes they feel they should be able to rule something, even if it isn't the kingdom. There is something about the arbitrary nature of hereditary rule, based usually but not always on birth order, that spurns jealousy.

While it can't be known for sure that this often-seen jealousy was what spurred Erah, the sister of Zhah, Queen of the Gargoyles, to head out on her own and form a colony of gargoyles, it is a good bet that it played a role.

Erah was assisted in her efforts by her high level staff: Aklem the warrior, Terinlem the architect and Cruorlem the healer. Queen Zhah paid for and assisted with her sister's expedition. The group settled in the island of Terra Sanctum, in the Lost Lands of Trammel.

All didn't go as well for Erah as it could have, however. Her healer, Cruorlem, was a member of the An-Kal-Lem, an evil cult and gargoyle sub-race, traitors to the gargish way. Cruorlem allowed the Demon Conclave to attack the colony and to have a sample of Erah's blood. The Conclave thought that Erah's blood would be an acceptable substitute for Queen Zhah's blood, and the blood of the Queens (Zhah, and Dawn Queen of Britannia), was needed for a vile ritual to repair the precious Scorched Ruby.

Whether or not Erah's blood proved to be an acceptable substitute is not, at the time of writing, yet known.
