Dexter the Mage has had a brief, strange, and harrowing career that, despite his trials, has ultimately worked out well for him.

Dexter was first seen as apprentice to the "Mad Mage" Kronos, in Moonglow, helping Kornos with the Blackrock Detector project. Like most Apprentices, Dexter admired his Master greatly. However, as everyone now knows, the Blackrock Detector led quite directly to a huge disaster and many years of harrowing events. Dexter was thought to be killed in the explosion.

However, he resurfaced a few years later, seemingly recovered emotionally and physically from his ideal. He had become the Royal Mage, replacing the now-dead Clainin, and helped Queen Dawn and Geoffrey with placing an outpost in the Stygian Abyss. He is rumored by those who know him at the Castle to be a competent and creative mage, but also to be wordy and nervous to the point of driving others, and himself, to distraction.

No doubt he is frazzled considerably by the trials in his relatively short career.
