Little is known of Carl the Scribe. He was encountered by her Majesty's Secret Service in the "Moonglow Bubble," the common name given to the copy of Moonglow that appeared in the Ethereal Void after the Shadowlords entered Sosaria, following the Demon Lord Nether's infestation of the dreams of the residents of Moonglow. Nether had retreated to the Bubble and had seemingly taken a prisoner or two with him. After Nether was slain in the Bubble by the Secret Service (Royal Spies), Carl the Scribe appeared as a witness, having seen "a darkness" talking to Nether and pointing out some evidence that had been left. Carl was still technically asleep for this.
