I thought I should
hurry out of here
before he could bring
in his
reenforcements.
I quickly grabbed the
bag which seemed to
contain some scrolls
and
reflected on the things
which just happened
a few seconds ago.

If I had not
interrupted his
summoning spell I
would surely
have shared the same
fate as the one in the
casket. Which made
me think and
I hurried over to the
casket to see if there
was any hope or
anything I
could do. But the
stench was so horrid
as I came near the
metal thing that
I stopped to think what
to do next.

I did raise my jug of
beer to
refresh my
makeshift smell
protection and to wet
my dry lips at the
same
time. The jug was
empty before I found
the courage to look
inside the iron
maiden. I was
surprised that I didst
only find a heap af
ash as the still
warm halves parted. I
could do nothing for
this poor soul and
spoke a quick
prayer to the gods on
his behalf.

I turned to quickly
leave this ugly place
but while I turned a
gleaming
piece inside the ashes
caught mine attention.
I took a closer look and
found a ring which
seemed to be made of
gold. As I took it out of
the
ashes I beheld a black
stone which seemed to
spread darkness
around like
a diamond spreads the
light.

I took the ring and as I
heard the gallop of
approaching horses I
recalled
back to the Empath
Abbey. As I blacked
out from the spell I
could swear
that I didst seem some
black horsemen
approaching but it
could have been my
imagination or a trick
of light.

I tried to find the wise
sage of Yew but I
could not find him. So
I write
this letter to you, dear
mayor, so that you
might find him so that
he can
go ahead and identify
this ring for me for
all mine prior efforts
had
failed to satisfy me
curiosity as to the
power of the ring.

Please give word to me
if thou didst find the
Sage and I will come to
thee
with this ring. I keep
the ring locked away
in a box inlayed with
lead to
seal off any dark
influences or magical
radiation.
And I gave the ancient
scrolls which I found
in the bag to a scholar
friend of mine but he
could not decrypt the
language except for
the
mentioning of a Yewel
of Krossar or the
like...
Maybe you have
better luck with these
scrolls as well.
